New Deep Purple Live Videos released
Now available exclusively at the DP Online store, 2 anxiously
awaited new live videos. "Bombay Calling: Live in India 1995", one of
the earliest Steve Morse era shows which features many tracks the band has not
played since 1995, including "The Battle Rages On". "Around
the World: Live 1995-1999" features performances from Korea, Russia,
Brazil, Turkey, Bulgaria, and the House of Blues. Both videos are presented from
TV performances, and extensive care has been taken in presenting a high quality
product. However, they will be limited edition "Bootleg" releases as
the band could not control the professional filming of these videos as they did
with Total Abandon. For track list information,
please click over to the Deep
Purple Online Store.
Apologies to those who expected a DVD to be released simultaneously, but
"Bombay Calling" will not be released on DVD format until late May/early
June, and then it will only be available in PAL format.

Helsinki pre-show party
Tero Honkasalo and
the Finnish DPAS reports:
Deep Purple's pre-gig party is held in Bar CheerLeaders in Helsinki.
CheerLeaders' address is Mannerheimintie 17, 00250 Helsinki and the bar's
telephone number is +358 9 447586. The bar is located next to Opera house and is
on the way to old ice-hall if you're coming from the Railway station or the
harbor. The bar is in a old UKK-hall, which is nowadays called Kisahalli, taxi-drivers
know that place with that name - special thing about that building is that Deep
Purple played their first gig in Helsinki in that hall. The doors are the same
ones, which broke down when people were entering the hall back in 1972. I want to welcome all DP fans on behalf of Finnish DPAS, Perfect Strangers of
Finland, Deep Purple yhtyeen ystävät.

New videos and DVDs
Exclusive to the Deep
Purple Online Store will be 2 new releases due late March 2000.
In appreciation to the fans who have supported the band over the past years,
Deep Purple's management has authorised the "limited" release of 2 new
videos.
The titles are:
1) Around the world Live 1995-1999
This is a live compilation of tracks taken from recorded performances since
Steve Morse joined the band. Many of these tracks have never been seen anywhere
in the world (not officially anyway), and highlight the phenomenal talents of
this truly great rock band.
The video will be available on both PAL and NTSC formats.
2) "Bombay calling" Live in India 1995 Official Bootleg
This is something special. This product will be available in a limited number of
PAL/NTSC video formats. Importantly, this will also be the worlds first "official"
DVD (PAL) bootleg by any band, let alone a rock group of this stature. The tapes
for this show were located just recently, and given the fact this is one of the
band's first appearances with Steve Morse, extraordinary efforts were made to
present this analogue archival footage to the fans who crave great live
material. This is no substitute for the quality presentations of "Total
Abandon" and "The Royal Albert Hall" performances, but this is a
rare glimpse of a band rediscovering their extraordinary talents with phenomenal
performances by everyone in the band, including Ian Gillan at his exceptional
best and Steve Morse dazzling the Indian audience with his guitar magic. This is
the complete show except for Jon's solo which was missing from the archival
tapes. The concert features many tracks from the old setlists, songs that are
not performed by the band today.
At this stage, the DVD version of this performance will only be available in the
PAL all region format, and it is important to note that most likely, only small
numbers will ever be pressed. If you are a Deep Purple fan, then you will not be
disappointed. This performance will never be available in retail outlets.
To the producer's knowledge, this is the only full show in existence from
Steve's early days, and the producer reports, "I have not been able to stop
watching the performance of the guys, who are obviously having the time of their
lives".
Thanks to Drew Thompson and Cybermusic
for the information.

finalised) at the end of April as a nine track single CD lasting some 65 minutes.

mid-price via mail-order only.

shipping identical pressings and prices will also be comparable.

sites in the next couple of weeks, along with further archive pictures from the

Deep Purple web site feature in "Record Collector"
Record Collector have been featuring internet sites by artist or
genre for a few months now. The March 2000 edition includes another two-page
feature, as usual prepared by regular RC contributor Cliff McLenehan, and on
this occasion its the turn of Deep Purple, "Information Superhighway Star,
The Deep Purple Family On The Internet."
There's probably very little included that most DP net users won't already be
familiar with but it's nice to see an independent appraisal. The five images
used include two from d-p.com and one
each from the Family Tree, Darkhop.com
and the Deep Purple Diary.
The Highway Star is "that rare
beast, an official site that is absolutely brilliant" and so it goes on
mentioning DPAS, Darkhop's
Deep Purple Gush Page, The Deep
Purple Diary, Mash's Tour Date
And Bootleg Recording Archive and so on, ending with a list of about two
dozen URL's.
For anyone who is not familiar with the magazine, they recently launched their
own website at http://www.recordcollectormag.com/.
Thanks to Nigel Young for the
information.
