Bad Remaster - Polygram Mixes Up Masters for The House of Blue Light Remaster
While Polygram is releasing remasters of the "Reunion era" Deep Purple albums, it looks like their effort can't be compared to what EMI has done to the original Mk 2 albums. Latest news is that the remaster for the 1987 album "The House of Blue
Light" seemingly is a remaster of the master for the original LP release of this album.
'Well, does that matter?', one might ask, and the answer is a resounding "YES!" This particular album was released in different length on LP and MC/CD formats, meaning the LP had roughly four minutes of music less than the CD, and all tracks are a bit
shorter. The album's highlight "Strangeways" suffers the most, with nearly two minutes missing on the
"remaster" Polygram now has put out.
