The Purple Heart
reports:
"On tour with Dixie Dreggs, several shows have been recorded, for inclusion on Steve's forthcoming DVD release. As yet untitled, the DVD is scheduled for release in March 2002 and will include new footage from Purple, as yet unreleased." Thanks to the Purple Heart for the information. December 9

other dates will be confirmed by Deep Purple's management.

Ian Paice's and Pete York's upcoming joint tour is a rare
chance to enjoy these two legendary personalties up close. In their long careers they have
toured the world with the best. Their stories could fill a book and their drumming always infects the audience with adrenalin and power.
The tour will feature Ian and Pete on drums and percussion with Miller Anderson on guitar and vocals and Colin Hodgkinson on bass, but it won't all be music. Pete York says: "We will give the audience the opportunity to ask questions about drumming, music, life on the road and life off the road." Ian Paice agrees: "It won't be just music. Pete and I will be chatting with the audience about anything they would like to know, and there will be autographs, pics, etc. I guess it's like An Evening with Ian Paice And Pete York." Paice and York have been friends for over 30 years but very rarely have they had the opportunity to play together. The fun they have is infectious and unforgettable. The small-club tour is a test to see whether they can do it more internationally. "We will be doing two weeks in Germany from Dec 2 to Dec 13, with one show in Salzburg, Austria," Paice says. Paice and York will play a fascinating mixture of rock, blues, swing and world rhythms, including a few rock classics they have made world famous. There will be much improvisation and the audience may lead the band to new explorations by their requests. This is a one-off opportunity to hear the worlds top drum team in action. These are quite small clubs of 600-1000 capacity, so you are advised to get your tickets fast. November 7 THE GOVERNMENT a 1970 acetate. Heavy soulful performances by a

composer Mario Fasciano, currently being recorded in Naples, and also
featuring Deep Purple's drummer Ian Paice, and guitarist Steve Morse."

"Saturday 4th August saw Ian Paice enter Abbey Road Studio 3 to work on his new DVD project and following a phenomenal jam session with friends Miller Anderson & Colin Hodgkinson, possibly Ian's first solo project also. 2 tracks were put down, tentatively tittled 'Paicesetter' & 'Dustbins'."
"Visions was also shot utilising 4 cameras. The results
was so startling, it was decided immediately to mix the 'drum bonanza' to 5.1
surround sound. Not simply a 'technique' video (having been produced many
times before), but rather a presentation which visualizes the whole process of
drumming. Starting from the manufacture of the kit, right through to it's
assembly and orientation in both live and studio situations, the video aims to
cover every aspect of drumming."
"The entire package will be a real drumming bonanza, with
Thames/Thompson searcing through archival footage to present never before
released 'Ian Paice' material including his earlier Purple days and his time
with Whitesnake."

"Ian Paice news continues to flow, with confirmation of a new DVD, featuring his association with jon Lord and Tony Ashton in the mid seventies with PAL. The format appears to be a real bonaza, with the full 2 hour performance being discovered and the complete documentary, Lifespan, available for the release." reports:
"Steve Morse, (busy bloke or what), has performed on classical guitarist Liona Boyd's new album 'Camino Latino / Latin Journey'. The piece on which he was a special guest is titled, "Rumbo al Sur" ("Heading South"). It is scheduled for an early 2002 release. Other artists who guested include Strunz & Farah, Al di Meola, Pavlo, Johannes Linstead, Jesse Cook, and Innis."

The Tony Ashton memorial concert has been set for November 4th
at the Buxton Opera House, England. The usual suspects will be there: Ian
Paice, Jon Lord, Miller Anderson, Colin Hodgkinson, Micky Moody, Bernie
Marsden, Zak Starkey, Henry Spinetti, Neil Murray, Jeff Whitehorn, Zoot Money
and many, many more!

The keyboardplayer Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) is scheduled
to release the new solo album, "Feeding the wheel" on Magna Carta
Records, October 23. Guest musicians will be Steve Morse, Billy Sheehan, John
Petrucci, Peter Ernst, Terry Bozzio, Bert Baldwin, Mark Wood, Peter Ernst,
Barry Carl and Eugene Freisen.
