The Connoisseur
Collection reports:
“Deep Purple On The Road” will be released on August ??th
after over three years of delay. The 4 CD set – which includes several
tracks new to CD (see below) charts the story of Deep Purple’s live concert
releases, from the early 70’s and shows recorded in Scandinavia, through
classic “Machine Head” era, Coverdale and Hughes first UK shows, and on to
the bands tour of the far-east with Tommy Bolin. The story is brought up to
date with tracks from the reunion decades.
Of the boxset’s 28 tracks, 7 are appearing on CD for the first time in most of Europe. On CD 2 “Strange Kind Of Woman”, “Lazy” and “Fireball” make their CD debut having previously only been heard on the “Scandinavian Nights” video. On CD 3 “Burn” and “Mistreated” have only been released on CD in Japan. Finally on CD 4 “You Keep On Moving” and “Wild Dogs” come from the 1977 album “Last Concert in Japan” unreleased in much of Europe. The box set of 4 CDs includes a 16 page fully illustrated and annotated booklet and a set of 12 collectors cards. The individual CDs contains a fully illustrated and annotated 4-page booklet.

reports:
"Purple Purple's show in Rotterdam, Oct 29th 2000, is to
come out as a mail order only release. The properly recorded 2CD set will
include the full show barring the actual Concerto sequence. Track list should
be : Pictured Within, Sitting In A Dream, Love Is All, Fever Dreams, Rainbow
In The Dark, Wring That Neck, Fools, When A Blind an Cries, Ted The Mechanic,
Guitar String, Pictures Of Home, Sometimes I Feel Like Screaming, Perfect
Strangers, Smoke On The Water, Black Night and Highway Star. Eight of these
songs were not performed at the Royal Albert Hall so it makes a good addition

Bootlegs Series 1968-1975 will be released
The DPAS reports:
"This new official series will make available live
recordings of the band between 1968 and 1975 to the collector. Although the
sound quality will vary, Purple Records say they will print accurate details
so people know what to expect. There will be notes and original sleeve art
where appropriate. The CDs will be subject to extensive digital restoration
and several tape collectors are helping to ensure that the best source is used.
These official bootlegs will be available to everyone but only via mail-order,
in order not to confuse buyers in shops. The DPAS is the official outlet
through their on-line store and mail-order catalogue."
They also report:
"The first release is SPACE VOL 1 & 2, a live
recording made at an open air festival in Aachen, Germany, on July 11th 1970.
The tapes were taken direct from a feed on the stage, and although there is
some overload on the vocals in a couple of places, it is generally considered
to be one of the classic bootlegs of the era."
