Deep Purple on VH1 Europe?
Tommy Vance promised to feature Deep Purple among other bands in the "Friday Rock Show Review '99" on VH1 Europe on December 17 at midnight UK time (01.00 CET). I guess it's the interview they did with Gillan and Lord before the Royal Albert Hall shows.

Ian Paice busy on European TV
Paul McCartney will appear on the German TV Show "Wetten, dass...?" on Saturday 11th of December, 8:15 PM CET on channel ZDF (Zweites Deutsches Fernsehen). He will perform his song "No Other Baby" with Mick Green (Johnny Kidd & The Pirates), Ian Paice (Deep Purple) und Pete Wingfield (Everly Brothers, Van Morrison).
Paul McCartney will also be interviewed on "Parkinson meets Paul McCartney" on BBC1 to be broadcast on Friday 3rd December 1999. It promises an interview "as well as a live performance of some of his classic songs". Given who is in McCartney's backing band at the moment we guess that Ian Paice will appear on this show too although we haven't had this confirmed.

US release dates for Rhino remasters
Rhino Records reports that "In Rock", "Fireball" and "Who Do We Think We Are" will be released on February 15, 2000. In addition, on February 29, 2000, "The Very Best of Deep Purple" is to be released.
We have no official info on a European release date for "Who Do We Think We Are" but we find it unlikely that it wouldn't be released just before or on the same date as in the US.

US release of the Royal Albert Hall recording
Spitfire Records will release the Royal Albert Hall 1999 album on January 18, 2000. We have no information about if the video will be released in the American format too. The European label for the album, video and DVD is still Eagle Rock Entertainment. We do not have any European release dates yet but a good guess is sometime around January 18.
Spitfire Records will also release remastered versions of "four of Gillan's best solo works" ("Clear Air Turbulence", "Accidentally On Purpose", "Scarabus" and "Cherkazoo & Other Stories"). All of these Gillan Remasters will be special collector's editions featuring 24 bit digital remastering, complete with original artwork and at a bargain mid-price.

Old Deep Purple clip on BBC Prime
From the Wednesday November 17 TV listings:
"17:00 (CET) BBC Prime Sounds of the Seventies
(Free to Be Me). A favourite teenage chat-up line in 1972 was 'do you like heavy music?'. The intellectually inclined called it 'progressive', and it even had its own TV programme - The Old Grey Whistle Test. Out of 'heavy' music was eventually to come heavy metal, but first came the back-to-basics no nonsense 'pub rock' that was to foreshadow punk. Including performances from Free, Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Yes and Dr Feelgood."
BBC Prime is BBC's stallite/cable service and can be seen in Europe, Africa and Asia.
Thanks to Tim Sinzenich for the info.

Paul McCartney with Ian Paice on BBC2
Ian Paice and Pink Floyd's David Gilmour will indeed be joining Paul McCartney on stage on Jools Holland's show on BBC2 on Saturday. Here's some info from the Grimsby Evening Telegraph:
"Sir Paul McCartney is to play live on TV with a band for the first time in six years as he takes part in a BBC2 show - the UK debut for his new outfit. The former Beatles star will perform three songs from his new album Run Devil Run on Later With Jools Holland on Saturday. His backing band is the same as the one for the album, featuring Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour and Deep Purple's Ian Paice. Sir Paul's last appearance with a band was on Top Of The Pops in 1993."
The Highway Star talked to BBC Prime, the channel's international cable channel, and this current series of "Later with Jools Holland" will not be broadcast internationally this year due to copyright problems. BBC Prime is instead airing a couple of years old reruns of the series on Saturday evenings/Sunday mornings at 12.30AM (00:30) CET.
Thanks to Nigel Young for the info.

The footage is 30 minutes and includes the tracks "Into the fire", "Child in time" (edit), "Wring that neck" (edit), "Paint it black" (edit) and "Black night".

November 2
Paul McCartney on BBC2
Paul McCartney will play live on "Later with Jools Holland" on BBC2 in the UK on Saturday November 6. We don't know for sure if Ian Paice will appear with McCartney but we guess he will since he's having some time off at the moment and since McCartney has been using Ian Paice and Pink Floyd's David Gilmour both for his album and for the promotion of the album.
Thanks to Ian Jackson for the info.
