This week Deep Purple's "Made in Japan" has entered the Swedish hard rock album chart at #18. We have no idea why but it can have something to do with the band's concerts in Scandinavia earlier this
month.
The hard rock album chart scanned from Aftonbladet, Aug. 24, 2001. August 24 Recuperating after a knee surgery Jon Lord
will not be joining the rest of Deep Purple before the Italian shows of
the current tour. Don Airey will continue to handle the keyboards in his place.
German fans need not fear - reviews from the tour so far are very positive
towards Airey's efforts. Jon Lord hopes to re-join Deep Purple for the Italian
dates, possibly also the Monaco shows.
August 18 Jim Capaldi (Traffic) will release a new
album on October 8. Guests on the album are George Harrison, Steve Winwood,
Ian Paice, Gary Moore and Paul Weller. The album is called "Living

Roger Glover and Steve Morse talked to Canadian music site Chartattack about their upcoming solo albums. Glover has 14 tracks done and is in the mixing
stage. The album features southern rock/R&B legend Randall Bramblett and will be completed then shopped
around. Steve Morse, on the other hand, is all set with a label.
Steve Morse: "I'm over halfway done with an album I'm doing for Magna Carta. It's approximately half-and-half Steve Morse Band and more mellow stuff, acoustic-type stuff. I was trying to come up with a title, something like Night And Day, where it's just two different moods alternating through the album." Roger had this to say about the next Deep Purple studio album: "All I can tell you is that there's a great enthusiasm in the band for making a really, really great album, a spectacularly different album that will be bold. It will be strange, it will be different, but there's nothing much written. We've had a couple of writing sessions but I can't really tell you much about it. I would definitely rather NOT produce. I didn't want to produce any of them, starting with Perfect Strangers, as a matter of fact. The very first meeting for the reunion I said, 'Excuse me, I don't want to produce,' and look what happened (laughs)." Full article August 7

need not fear - Airey has had plenty of practice Lording it in the Whitesnake
band The Company Of Snakes featuring Jon's old band mates Bernie Marsden,
Micky Moody and Neil Murray. Jon Lord will re-join Deep Purple in Bonn on
August 19 for the rest of the tour.
