New releases from the Bolin archives
Next week will bring us two new releases from the Bolin Archives. Of course, anything Bolin related is Purple related, but these two releases are specificallyPurple related; they are the 2-CD Energy set, which is 2 live radio broadcasts of the band, in which they do the original "Lady Luck" which resurfaced on CTTB; the other releases is of Glenn Hughes' live set at the Bolin Tribute show last summer. It has some CTTB songs like "Gettin Tighter" and "You Keep On Moving" as well as solo Tommy and Glenn stuff. Hughes will be performing again at Denver this August 21 and 22, doing a similar tribute show with some different songs.
(Thanks to Jim Sheridan.)

New book by Mo Foster
Roger Glover's friend Mo Foster, a great bass player, has written a book called "17 Watts?" being an account of the first twenty years of British rock guitar, musicians and their stories. Roger has contributed to the book with some anecdotes and stories.
Roger Glover says about the book: "It is a wonderfully funny book with some great quotes, my favourite being something Ray Fenwick once said, 'Now remember, it's vest - shirt - guitar, not guitar - shirt - vest.'"

"Come Taste the Band" outtakes to be released on CD
From RPM Records:
Negotiations for a new RPM Deep Purple title have been concluded, and a CD
featuring previously unissued studio rehearsal performances from June 1975 is
now being prepared for release. There are two lengthy (ten minute
plus) jams which are incredible, plus early takes of a few more "Come Taste"
tracks as well as some titles which didn't make it to the final album.

Tape of Deep Purple's last pre-reunion concert found
A recently surfaced audience tape of Deep Purple's very
last 1970's show in Liverpool May 15, 1976 has gathered so much interest
that Simon Robinson at the DPAS has decided to rush release this on an
official double CD in the very near future. Although the sound quality
reportedly isn't too hot (the tape will recieve a proper clean-up in a
pro studio before mastering), the historic interest of this tape cannot
be ignored. Because of these circumstances the double CD will be a mail
order item only and will not reach ordinary retail shops. The DPAS has
promised to let us know as and when the release is available for order.
