Put yer money where yer mouth is

Against my better judgement, I actually bought the thing, and relived the better parts of last year's shows I went to. (I could smell the arena as the band played on my TV screen.) Also, since it'll probably be the last offical release with Jon, I thought it might make a good farewell rememberance.

It's a really fun set. Far from the best show they did - and Jon gets a little lost(!) during the duel with Steve - but for US$ 20 it was definitely worth the purchase.Gillan is in fine form, and the band is really tight sounding. I even got into Mary Long, a song I otherwise despise.

Steve does some incredible fret work and it's great fun to have on video. Little Ian doing his one handed roll. It seems like Steve's guitar riff raff is cut, and there are no surprises in the set otherwise, but you could do worse for your bucks. A nice farewell package I think.

The interviews are always fun. I find it ironic, though, having the band talking about writing and performing new material when they don't play any (not even from Abandon!) and haven't done a studio set in years. Steve is also conspiculously absent from the boat ride footage. Hm...

A good value set for die hards and casual fan alike.
