The family jungle revisited

Deep Purple Extended Family Poster - CP Option

Glenn Wellard sent us an updated revision of his version of the Deep Purple Family Tree. This new revision fixes Atomic Rooster (which had been mistakenly called ‘Arctic’) and links the Yardbirds/Led Zeppelin branch to the tree via Coverdale/Page collaboration.

And before you start complaining again, remember: this is just a one man’s vision on where to prune the tree. Nobody promised that it would be utterly objective. The main constrains were to include 50 bands/lineups (on the occasion of the 50th anniversary), and make it printable on an A1 format poster (that Glenn sells on Ebay).

Happy gardening!

Great job, but what the hell have the Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin to do with DP?
I like these bands, but in my opinion the only connection ist the respect of Ritchie and Jimmy to each other. The world’s best rock guitarists ever!

Well, the conection between Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin might be the 1993 Covedale-Page album.

byron – thanks for the heads up on Ged Peck, now corrected.

Thanks again The Highway Star for uploading the Coverdale-Page tree option.

If anyone is interested, I’ve set up a Facebook page, Rock Family Tree, for discussion and news of future development of my family tree. Cheers!
