All hypothetically speaking, of course
Well, if one good thing came out of this whole Hall of Fame saga, it’s additional publicity for the band. And in show business there’s no such thing as bad publicity.
In anticipation of 2016 inductees being announced on December 17, Classic Rock reached out to Paicey for a comment:
Well, who would they induct? There have been so many members of this band, even if they say it will be core members, who would it be?
You also have to bear in mind, that if some people are inducted together, it could end in a punch-up. I don’t need to tell anyone certain key members and former members of this band do not get on. Personally, I think they would be better off inducting us individually. That avoids the problem.
Hmm, maybe they should just have a boxing match in their performance stead.
As for playing live, again who would be involved? You’d have the same situation as for an induction. This one won’t play with that one – it could be a mess.
The Hall Of Fame should be embarrassed for not inducting us already. Look at some of the non-entities who’ve got in. I won’t name them, but just have a look at some of those names, and you’ll know who I mean. What have they ever done for rock’n’roll? Nothing. Having these artists in before Deep Purple undermines what it is supposed to represent.
Thanks to Classic Rock for the fodder.

December 16th, 2015 at 22:26well let’s see… We’d have Paice on drums. Airey as the only keyboarder available. And both the “focus on today” and the “focus on the glory years” parties would have to vote for Gillan and Glover. So they would play one new song with Morse and one old song (Smoke?) with Blackmore as guest.
Hm, I guess he is rehearsing for his rock shows anyway at the moment, and I heard Ritchie and Ian spoke to each other recently? This could actually work as a one-of… (won’t of course)
Well, the idea is that you get chosen mostly by your hits, fame and legacy, although, as Paicy rightly points out, this is not always the case, but still, if we go by those criteria, hits and fame, and we look at Deep Purple, well, in my book that spells Mk II.
December 16th, 2015 at 22:45The dilemma of multiple lineups is the best part of a DP nomination. Sure it is a silly institution run by Jann Weiner and the putzes at Rolling Stone. But I really would love the induction show and the PR for the band.
December 17th, 2015 at 02:24Smells like bad sneekers stepping on dirty worms .
December 17th, 2015 at 11:32You tell em Paicy . What could DP be considered , other than a R&R band ? Some of these previous nominees and inductees ? Madonna ? Janet Jackson Etc. ? R&R ? WTF ?
December 17th, 2015 at 14:10Boycott it! Do not show up!!!!
Peace.

The Hall of Fame kind of slapped Purple and some other great bands in the face, during the formative years. Maybe now it’s heading in the right direction, correcting some of the many wrongs over the years. I don’t concur with the “boycott” sentiment, although I understand it. But it’s the fans and big-name musicians in other bands, like Rush, whose tireless complaining about the Purple snub prompted the Rock panel to wake up and listen to the fans. And so, it’s for the fans and others who’ve been loyal all these years. As for which members get to show up or jam at the Induction Ceremony, that’s more a matter of logistics than politics. You can only have so many bodies up on that small stage there.
