Hughes & Aldrich in Peru
It’s a busy summer for the Purple family. As Deep Purple and Whitesnake are trawling the North America, at times almost crossing paths, Glenn Hughes and Doug Aldrich have headed down south. Here’s an excerpt of their performance in Lima, Peru. Bear in mind that it’s a power trio covering songs that were written for a 5-piece band, so some parts ought to be missing.
Thanks to despiadado777 and marko666arze for the video and to Yvonne for bringing it to your attention.
Johnny Depp Purple?…?
August 15th, 2015 at 20:47Sounds awfull. Partly because of the recordings – but mostly because of Glen Hughes.
August 15th, 2015 at 20:53DA’s side trio (Steamroller) cover Space Trucking, Burn, Stormbringer and SotW.
August 15th, 2015 at 20:54When did Johnie Depp join the band and change the name..?? As Depp Purple and Whitesnake
August 15th, 2015 at 23:20They are sounding great. I saw the set list and I am happy do see that Glenn included songs from BBC and CB. I hope he tours North America. Don’t know why he never tours around here….
August 16th, 2015 at 11:22Genius – see him soon in Hamburg 🙂

Doug is very good guitar player.
August 16th, 2015 at 13:57Glenn Hughes is a winner. His bass playing is really distinctive and he still has his voice. I wish he would do an official DVD of this tour..To be able to see and hear him with a guitarist like this would be great. I just didn’t like California Breed much because i couldn’t “buy-in” to that guitarist. Aldrich knows how to play this style better than most.
August 17th, 2015 at 00:52One suspects that David may be a tad peeved.
August 17th, 2015 at 03:23At least Glenn isn’t afraid to perform the Purple tunes in concert, and he doesn’t even have a Purple tribute album. I think this sounds great. Too bad Whitesnake can’t figure out how to play this song.
August 17th, 2015 at 14:50@ 6 – hey kraatzy, I’ll see Glenn in Hamburg too. Can’t wait! Did you see CaliBreed at Markthalle last year?
August 17th, 2015 at 16:07I spoke to a friend who was at the concert in Sao Paulo, Brazil, yesterday and he said it was amazing and the club for about 1000 people was packed !! It surprises me that Glenn hasn’t announced a North American leg of this tour yet. He wouldn’t be playing at the Madison Square Gardens, but he for sure would have enough people at the gigs to make it profitable…
August 17th, 2015 at 20:21Definitely a European headline: Trawling the North America? I have never, in 53 years on Earth, heard anyone put the word “the” in front of North America, as if it’s the northern part of the United States or something. Uh, North America is a continent. South America is a continent.
August 18th, 2015 at 04:58For the fans: “Stormbringer” in São Paulo, Brazil, last sunday august 16th.

I’m neither much of a DA fan nor do I think that anything Glenn does is automatically anointed. But this is surprisingly pleasant. DA has toned down his, errm, tone, no longer that über-processed wall of sound of Whitesnake daze.
Sail Away now sounds like a Trapeze number – what’s not to like?!
August 21st, 2015 at 19:08Very shitty sound but I could not resist.
I like it this cover.
A bit of imagination and you hear DC and Glenn doing this in MK 3 fashion.
But goddamn…….WHERE ARE THE FUCKING KEYS GLENN?!
Hammond, please 🙂
