Mmmm, harmonies
Yesterday, June 9, Whitesnake played a gig in Glenn Hughes’ neghbourhood — Beverly Hills, California. You can guess what happened.
And before you start speculating — no, Whitesnake is not making a stop in Long Island on this tour. you-know-whom will be in Munich when Whitesnake plays in Long Island. Still ain’t happening.
wish Tommy was with them playing on YKOM…
June 10th, 2015 at 18:19people in certain parts of the world are just too lucky when it comes to concerts and special things that happen during those gigs :>
Glenn Hughes lives in Palos Verdes, not BH. Still LA though
June 10th, 2015 at 19:03Incredibly privledged to be there last night.
June 10th, 2015 at 19:30Glad Jon is no longer here for this crap.
June 10th, 2015 at 20:17Oh yes they are. I have tickets to see whitesnale in Westbury New York….on Long Island. Here’s the kicker, Purple is playing the same venue that same weekend…..yes snake and purple playing same venue, same weekend on Long Island. My dream is Ian Paice and Blackmore , ok even Hughes, join in on the MK III bandwagon.
Btw, I’m seeing DEEEP PURPLE TOO!
June 10th, 2015 at 20:47Last time I checked,Westbury NY is in Long Island
June 10th, 2015 at 21:22is it me or Mr Coverdale got a little bit heavy,God,out of tune and bad ! I guess watching live and listening throught youtube is not the same thing! Gillan is right!
June 10th, 2015 at 21:27That was a treat!
June 10th, 2015 at 22:19Thanks for Sharing!
A closer view of YKOM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCj20ZsfRy8
June 10th, 2015 at 23:26Never thought I’d see them two on stage again together!!!!! Awesomeness!!!!! 😀
June 10th, 2015 at 23:48A bit rough and ready from lack of prep…but nice to see them co-singing on these tunes…Very nice.
June 10th, 2015 at 23:55A bit rough and ready from lack of prep…but they are pros and they pulled it off well…nice to see them co-singing on these tunes…Very nice.
June 10th, 2015 at 23:57Wow, thats quite a long trip, pretty far south! I also thought he lived in the hills..
June 10th, 2015 at 23:59Full marks for You Keep On Movin’-Too bad this didn’t happen at last year’s tribute to Jon.
June 11th, 2015 at 00:57On the other hand, not even the 2 original vocalists can redeem the utter shambles of Lay Down,Stay Down (Far and away the worst song on The Purple Album )
It’s a fairly normal LA commute, I live in Topanga these days and had a meeting in downtown LA, took an hour there and an hour back, traffic not too bad.
Going from PV to Beverly Hills takes slightly longer, depending on how bad traffic on the notorious 405 Freeway is… can easily take twice as long.
But then again I don’t have the impression Glenn needs to be in an office downtown by 9AM 🙂
And PV is a nice place, high up with great views, and you get to see the gray whale migrations in early spring.
June 11th, 2015 at 02:19…their chemistry has lost nothing…great going!
June 11th, 2015 at 04:47I loved You Keep On Moving! Both Glenn and David sounded good on this one. Lay Down, Stay Down I think was a strange choice for a duet, especially if you let your whole band sing it together with the special quest… what’s the point then?
June 11th, 2015 at 08:01and , stone would cry…..
June 11th, 2015 at 11:10I find it incredible that we get a performance like this, which is actually rather wonderful, and people think it’s cool to moan and groan about it (post 4 and 7). David is singing well at this stage of the tour (handling the DP material rather better than expected) and Glenn is still doing what he does, like no one else can.
It’s just joyful and they work brilliantly together.
June 11th, 2015 at 13:32Lovely to see them together! YKOM is great, but Lay Down Stay Down is awful. Worst track on the album. Just noise to me.
June 11th, 2015 at 15:22@4 what is wrong with this crap?! it might not be the best version live, but I’m pretty sure the experience live is different.Jon Lord would have loved join “this crap” and playing some great old tune, which he was part of…. you should check yourself, before you start calling great musician crap or just go back and listen some real crap.
June 11th, 2015 at 16:06YKOM sounds rather good.LDSD was crap IMO (but I didn’t like the cover on the WS album anyway)
June 11th, 2015 at 18:24David seems to be in good shape, his voice sounds better today…hope it will last.
Anyway,it’s great to see them together again!
Sounded great to me…..
June 12th, 2015 at 13:30@5 i know said the same crazy innit. saban nice and highley anticipd visit. history repeating what 40 years after jesus. well never say never even if after ice age 🙂 and yeah dont judge the quality of singing based on iphone upload. it was very very well done. shivers down spine ykom soul bros staple song …f finally
June 12th, 2015 at 15:21Good enuf stuff!
June 12th, 2015 at 18:43Absolutely delighted to see this. To see David and Glenn together is amazing. Now to get Ritchie up there!!
June 12th, 2015 at 19:14What do people mean, Lay Down Stay Down a bad song on Burn? It’s a great rollicking and rollicking Rock ‘n’ Roll song, with some great powerful vocals going on, backed by Blackmore who’s on fire and Lord and Paice having fun.
June 14th, 2015 at 20:16Just like many other songs off of Burn (might just take your life; the weight-The Band, what’s going on here; Fire-Jimi Hendrix, Mkstreated; heartbreaker-Free, what’s going on here; highway chile; Jimi Hendrix, Sail away; superstition, jeff beck) Lay down stay down borrows the great riff from MOUNTAIN ‘Blood of the Sun’ https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EHjhn8VQ_WU
Oops, might just take your life’s intro is from CHEST FEVER, by The Band

Adrian @ 27 – Thanks for the info on Blackmore ‘borrowing’ those riffs, well maybe Lord also. I didn’t know about those two songs & now of course they are added to the plethora of many others. Sheesh, the way things are going with Purple & Zeppelin ‘borrowing’ so much. my youth is slowly being eroded. Two of my favourite bands sullied to a degree, for life perhaps! I am going to have to start following Justin Bieber & One Direction soon. Cheers.
June 15th, 2015 at 05:06Wonderful!! I saw them do both songs live together with Mk III and IV and they are equally as good together now 40 years later. Long may it continue… Believe me, they don’t make em like this anymore 🙂
June 15th, 2015 at 09:58@28 where were u living mate under a rock :)) its not verbatim its just a lil nod to it. to me the weakest of JL. now, nobody says ldsd is bad on burn, comments r towards the new take & live of saban gig…
June 15th, 2015 at 11:39It’s cool to see those two sing together again but on the other hand it’s toe-curling how they over-egg the pudding here. Less is more, really!
June 15th, 2015 at 14:54Two Words: Tommy Aldridge! He’s a beast on drums especially when he bangs on drums with his bare hands, He’s brilliant! ♡
June 16th, 2015 at 23:43Nice! Great to see them together again.
June 18th, 2015 at 01:06I still prefer listening and watching Live in Japan 1975.
June 21st, 2015 at 18:21Angela…………….Ian Paice
Tommy is ok but a basher without swing can never do a DP song right
June 21st, 2015 at 18:38I think it sounds great ! The music is absolutely solidly played and you can tell the band was fired up due to the fact that Glenn was there … and ol’ Cov and Glenn sound great, as always ! Glad to see them do this song for the first time since the mid 70s ! Hope they do more ! Even an album !
June 23rd, 2015 at 13:08@Rock Voorne ……….Ian Paice is my favourite drummer,Tops in my eyes, DP is the most beautiful rock and roll band in the universe!
