(Not really) behind the scenes

California Breed’s record company apparently decided to inundate us with hype about their first album by posting a new promo clip every week. This one is supposed to be behind the scenes from recording, while in reality is just talking heads.

Subsequent episodes will premiere every Tuesday until the album is released on may 20 on Guitar World

Thanks to BraveWords for the info.

    Having the record company promoting the album with a consistent effort is a GOOD thing.

    Copycats. When I spot lyrics from who they copied rather than just which album I will rest my case because I know it’s coming. 😀

    Oh dear the kid establishes the whoop as the greatest vocalist ever. Now we’re talking?

    Mike Ross says:

    Why the resentful tone? Because Glenn Hughes consistently assembles bands that are far superior to the current lineup of Deep Purple? He’s arguably the most relevant member of the band, and he’s not in the band.

    How the hell is that?! He’s an overblown pompous showboat! I not only laugh, I’m not going to get into it with anyone who goes after another opinion like that. I don’t get to keep an ongoing opinion since 1975 huh, following closely all the while? Rubbish! But I’m sure you’re gonna “prove” me otherwise? He’s nowhere near beyond reproach, his support team are mercenary robots as well. Since when has anything been about the whoop concerning Purple since the measly two and a half years he spent getting it wrong with them and his abusive self? Wait, don’t answer that, call an expert. Your opinion from some samples, for one, is like saying you don’t need to “buy” the record, play it a number of times before commenting, and wait for the rot to either set in, or the staying power to speak for it. It seems your definition for “relevant” needs some review, but I’m sure you’re going to tell me how he defines that?! Crap is crap, let’s see him top four national Billboards(Ritchie didn’t even come close to that since the reunion with them, in fact who even does that anymore?) Talk about “relevant,” then lets see this stay in anyone’s rotation for a year without an end in sight…. first time a Purple album has even done that since Purpendicular. Really, you’ve set “Now What” down? I really either doubt it or you’re just stuck up Glenn’s spell as of late. Even the BCC albums lost spark very fast. Sure, it’s slick and clever at first, but then goes to the wayside. All I have to really say is “Now What?!” Another impatient pseudo funk rocker, I suppose.

    @4 Mike,

    Superior, let alone far superior to the current lineup of Deep Purple? I dig Glenn, and he is the most relevant member of California Breed. And the number of the members in The Breed is in his favor. :> You no doubt posted for the pure entertainment value and the chain of reactions that are sure to follow.

    Hopefuly this record will be worth a damn. If not, they can always phone Bob Ezrin for the sophomore record….

    Peace,
    Ted

    @ 4 are you serious ? you re confusing your taste trying to make retarded comparisons,comparing like a little kid who can scream more and who is better and such! As talented as creative Hughes is,he will never get to the status and achieve what Deep Purple had achieved in years!

    stoffer says:

    @4 If the bands he assembles are so “far superior” to DP, why then to they turn into dust so soon?! Deep Purple is the best thing that GH ever had going for him and still has for that matter…………………….I wish him luck w/CB but far superior to DP…HARDLY?!

    cheers?!

    amen to that man!
    I’m not a Glenn hater by all means,the dude is talented,I can live with his showboating and such,his band is nothing but gun for hire.Jason Bonham,as decent as he is,he is never been a musician,cmon.Glenn is trying to revive his superstar persona for many years now,but he will never achieve his days with Deep Purple.
    Meantime I cannot wait for another great follow up of Now What?!

    What has the Jon Lord memorial concert got to do with this? Why do some people view music in terms of a competition? Glenn is indeed a talented man, but it doesn’t take too long before his personality gets in the way of the music, thereby destroying the positive aspects. One could argue that Glenn’s voice was possibly the strongest at the Royal Albert Hall, but that doesn’t make him more talented than everybody else who performed. There were musicians who were at least his equal in terms of writing ability and possibly more so. Moreover, having a big range doesn’t make someone the best singer as it’s also about aspects such as tone. Glenn is a very competitive singer in that he always wants to prove that he’s the best and therefore has a tendency to over-sing (especially if he’s singing with someone else) which doesn’t always sound pleasant. Someone like Paul Rodgers is exceptional, he has a great range and superb tone and is also one of Glenn’s favourite singers. For me the stars of the concert for Jon were the people in the house band who had to cover so many different styles as they backed numerous artists. A stand-out for me would have been Ian Paice who was on fire; he hasn’t played like that in many years and he pulled out all the stops for Jon. However, I would argue that THE most talented was dear Jon, it was his music they played and it was clear to all how intelligent a musician he was, capable of playing and composing pretty much anything

    I wish all DP members past and present success. That said, they are really pushing this new band. I hope it doesn’t disappoint. BCC did not really do it for me personally. We shall see soon…

    @13 purplepriest 1965,

    Nah, you are not raining on any parade. This is all too, and continuously, entertaining. Keep the overall myopia on the board. I can’t say it enough, it’s entertainment. I’ve come a long way with any level of annoyance that anyone who posts has possibly triggered.

    Continued thanks for the entertainment! :>

    Peace,

    BCC 2 – 71
    BCC Afterglow – 48
    Deep Purple Rapture of the Deep –
    Deep Purple Now What ?! – 110

    Fender 123 says:

    Mike Ross & PP1965 – you really should get out more. Hughes had practically nothing to do with Burn, brought trash to Stormbringer and actually made a half decent contribution to CTTB. Relevance to Deep Purple – minor, always was, always will be. Ego the size of a dinosaur, the reality is that of an ant. His head is so far up his own backside he can’t see reality. If only he would stick to writing & singing songs (minus the incessant screaming), latterly he’s been pretty decent at that.
    Cheers.

    OK, his remarks about GH being the greatest Rock Vocalist of all time and JB being the greatest drummer alive today might be a stretch, but then that’s His opinion. As We All have regarding a musician here and there. Either way, they are both Exceptional Musicians and the music will speak for itself. Still can’t wait for the release. It’s gonna Rock and the Kid will carry his weight along with these other two heavy weights…..
