Paicey has his own beer
Castle Rock Brewery from Nottingham has a series of one-off seasonal beers dubbed Nottinghamian Celebration Ale named after famous people born in town and beyond. This spring offering on tap: Ian Paice Celebration Ale. The beer is described as a “dark bitter with a slight ‘smoke on the water’ character”. We’re still waiting for our sample.
Thanks to Andrey Gusenkov for the info.
I’d like to have one of these
May 8th, 2013 at 21:03Didn’t we see Bruce Dickinson recently, also with his own beer? Well, sort of his beer, in conjunction with the brewery of course!
May 8th, 2013 at 21:14Why not I say, & this from a non beer drinker!
Grats to Paicey…………….but sadly another part of Purple that probably won’t make it to the States…I would drink 5 and save 1 ?!
May 8th, 2013 at 22:03I would like try that!
May 8th, 2013 at 22:07Well, here’s a real, “Paicey pint!” 🙂 Wonder if his Tech has any of these in the cooler? 😉
May 8th, 2013 at 22:53After hearing Now What?! I think they all deserve a brand of beer! Paice is the right one to start off with, but the whole band deserve it……..after Now What?!
May 8th, 2013 at 23:36I am trying to purchase a case and have it sent to the US.
May 9th, 2013 at 01:06Send a few over to Sweden as well..! Honestly if anyone have an idea where to get these internationally, sign me up!
May 9th, 2013 at 06:51It is an Iron Maiden beer ‘Trooper’ in conjunction with a brewery by the name of Robinson’s apparently, that is actually launched tonight May 9 – UK time!
May 9th, 2013 at 07:16This week I bought the Classic Rock Magazine with the Deep Purple coverspecial.
Apart from a very nice old picture of Ian gillan on the cover the article that goes with it has several interesting parts.
Wait a minute, I ll show you why I posted it here!!!!
In small print beneath the cover pic there is a quote :
” In the 70’s I’d wake up with a hangover and start drinking. You can’t do that at our age.”
Mine and yours conclusion would be that it is a Gillanquote, I think.
But in the article itself it is being said by Paicey!
I dont remember Paicey having the imgae of a problematic drinker so my first reaction, reading the quote on the cover, was :
Hell, the 70’s!!!??? You kept on drinking for decades since!!!!
But appearantly I was misled.
I doubted if I should pull out 10 Euro for ” just” a mag, but just the coverpicture of him, I think between Mister Universe and Glory Road(Or am I mistaken?)did the trick I have to admit.
Their looks in their prime meant the world for me and appearantly I still have a inclination to be so shallow.
Morse in the article, like Turner did before, expresses a sad moment when he tells the reporter still feeling ” the outsider” , even after Airey became the newest member.
Like Turner, he appearantly never really gelled socially with the guys that all originate from the UK/background.
He again expresses his discomfort with the massive touringschedules and also feels emberassed about the luxury they have on the road.
There is more.
But maybe you already bought it or want to : )
Apart from the granddaddies pics in the article it makes a nice addittion to my Deep Purple library. : )
Cheers.
Mark

May 9th, 2013 at 23:45Good for IP. make that money. These dudes deserve to make as much as they can carry. I am tired of seeing hoodlum rap idiots get millions for uncivilized music and stage shows.
May 10th, 2013 at 12:20@7:
i got in touch with the brewery and they didn’t bottle it. it is only available on tap in pubs.
the malt bill is half smoked malt, so it’s supposed to be very smoky.

Btw, they added a 24 Carat looking digipack as free cd with the mag.
I first thought :
Hey, a new cd with renditions of DP songs by others.
But no, it is a sampler with several new songs by several rockbands and only one DP track : Hell To Pay.
This does them no service I think, espescially because it is the radioedit.
I dont really like HTP, too simple for me.
I would have chosen Simple Song or Out Of Hand or…..
A friend of mine said that the intro of HTP is from I Surrender, stupid I did not notice that myself.
