Now what?!
The official Deep Purple Facebook page has got a new logo reading Now What?! In what we’re sure, is a total coincidence, the mysterious site deeppurple2013.com is also accessible as deeppurple-nowwhat.com. Both domains were registered on the same day late last year by a German-based media company.
Just sayin’…
That only begs the questions
February 26th, 2013 at 00:27Who?

The title is Rumours 2. Fleetwood Mac are special guests.

February 26th, 2013 at 05:09Now What?!
February 26th, 2013 at 10:19Okay, it’s not a bad title. Not as good as Burn or Fireball, but certainly better than Bananas.
This………….Won’t do the album any good at all…………………Not at all….
February 26th, 2013 at 11:52Who’s idea??? Management???……………….Probably!!!!
I actually like “Now What?!” better than just “?” or even “?!”
February 26th, 2013 at 12:13Amazon UK is taking pre-orders but only listing the smoky ? as a ”temporary” cover.
Anticipation mounts.
Check out there FaceBook site. They have confirmed the album name and the issue of a double A-sided single with Live tracks on the B-side in March. They state some pretty high-hope remarks here regarding the Album also. After reading this entry on the Facebook Page, my expectations have reached an extremely high mark. “Now What?!” is the title of the Album and the World Tour.
READ IT BELOW…..

I would have preferred they made the reference to ‘Purpendicular’ rather than ‘Perfect Strangers’. They should be super proud of that record and for me it is much more defining of them today. ‘Purpendicular’ had it all, including production and song quality and definitely should be classified as one of the best Purple Albums to date, and at this time more relevant.
Follow up album to ‘Now What?!”……”Here Ya Go!”

February 26th, 2013 at 18:27Now What?! WORLD TOUR…………….Iam sooooooooooooooooooo ready…………. just come close,we will be there?!
February 26th, 2013 at 23:24I have read some positive reviews from last nights Brisbane gig. No new songs as predicted, but people seemed to enjoy it. I couldn’t be bothered driving for 1 hour to see it, still at least some die hards still get off on it! The set list would have looked more positive with new material in it though! Ho hum, such is life!
February 27th, 2013 at 06:17I totally agree with Tracy(Zero the Hero)Heyder: I would have preferred they made the reference to ‘Purpendicular’ rather than ‘Perfect Strangers’. — ‘Purpendicular’ had it all, including production and song quality — it is one of the best Purple Albums to date.
February 27th, 2013 at 09:44I have to say I was not pleased with the reference to PS. But that does not mean that Now What cannot be a great album.
I agree with Tracy
February 27th, 2013 at 14:15Purpendicular is the best album since Perfect Strangers and I hope “Now what ?!” will bring some great music. Great band anyway…

Purple Priest’s Presence : )
February 27th, 2013 at 17:14I empathise with Tracy’s wish they better had made a reference to Purpendicular.
It is IMPOSSIBLE without Lord and Blackmore to create stuff like Perfect Strangers and /or Made In Japan.
Hell, even Lord is not there to re create some of the grace that Purpendicular had.
Elegance is not really a word I associate with Perfect Strangers.
MAJESTIC is more the word for that one.
Although some parts like Wasted Sunsets or the classical duets of Lord/Blackmore in, for example A Gypsies Kiss could be called elegance, I dont know.
WORDS.
It is ironic.
Certain fanatic defenders of this outfit regard people who are are critical and referring to the iconic heydays as backward/maybe even retarded as well.
But I bet ya : the same people welcome comparing to Perfect strangers and made In Japan!
Recognisable and kinda endearing spasms in order to cover everything their heroes do with the willingness of a fan that will always follow. No matter what happens.
They’ll probably as happy as the rest if(It will never happen again)the remains of MK 2 would reunite.
It is true that almost every album by this band sounded different.
But one cannot deny that as the Blackmore led albums had this certain sound of agressiveness.
The Morse albums never really had that aspect.
And what has become, very weird if you consider Steve is Americain IMO, more and more evident ; There ain’t much blues in him : (
People probably suggest ABANDON now.
It has become clear to me that a certain part of the fans love this album and even see it on par with Purpendicular.
It may be heavier than that last one, but the blues(Even though they tried something with 1 song, but I find that a horrible cousin of WABMC, was not there and heavy alone does not constitute a DP album.
From time to time I am able to enjoy certain Morse era songs, but NEVER will be exited, mesmerised, etc as with songs like BURN, Mistreated, You Keep On Moving, Getting Tighter, Lovechild, Fools, HardLoving man, Smooth dancer, Place In Line, etc.
NEVER this march reached the heights and timeless qualities of even Mark I.
Compared to most others here I cannot be dissappointed this this time around.
Maybe they ll surprise me after this ” joke” of a teaser. : )
Everything is possible?
Or not?
March 1st, 2013 at 11:43I was a bit taken aback at first with the new album title, then i thought Who Do We Think We Are is also an unusual title, but a world class album,my favourite after In Rock,so here’s hoping for another classic!I must disagree with some on here though who prefer Purpendicular to Perfect Strangers.Yes,Purpendicular’s a great album, but for me,a few tracks still disappoint, but Perfect Strangers is totally fantastic with the best guitaring on any Deep Purple album,so i’ll have some more of that please!
March 1st, 2013 at 23:29Priest…. NO BAND EVER RECREATES THEIR PEEK DAYS. NONE! There will always be that defining moment in a good bands lifetime that they can never quite capture again. Especially when it is during their early on period when music itself is in such a place as back in the ’70s, when Guitar/Album Rock was so prevalent and evolving. Timing is everything. Purple have gone through many line-up changes and various styles throughout. There are some quite special moments throughout. Yes Priest, it all boils down in the end for you to bash the present fiddler in your discontent for their music. He is who they chose to replace your ‘cut and run’ hero. He is the sound they agreed on. He is Deep Purple’s guitarist for 20 years. He has endured a longer Purple stand than TMIB. Ritchie defined the first half of Purple’s sound. Steve Morse took the helm and IS THE SOUND of DEEP PURPLE.
