Professor of fortune
And just to make whatever is left of the weekend a bit more interesting, let us present you Minister for Science and Technology of Republika Srpska (not to be confused with Serbia proper), Professor Dr. Jasmin Komić:
Thanks to Andrey Gusenkov for bringing this to your attention.
Very nice and really good voice !
October 7th, 2012 at 21:37Sorry could not find a place to register or search for threads. Anyways 1st time poster and long time lurker (I know). Anyways, this is awesome , just goes to show how appreciatiated DP is in in Europe as opposed to NA.
A liittle bit of history. I have been a DP fan since I got my first album in 72′, Machine Head. The firrst chance I had to catch them in concert was the 84 ‘ reunion tour but for some reason the Edmonton concert was cancelled. After that I lived in the maritimes (New Brunswick and PEI) so I would have to travel to Toronto or Montreal which was not finacially possible. Long story short, I finally got to see the boys this year in Vancouver.
The main point of this whole post is to say,I just got blessed. My son got to sing background vocals on the new album. Bob Ezrin is one of the founders/owners of the music school (Nimbus School of Arts) my son is going to. The school asked for volunteers, ~ 20 students showed up, my son was one of them. The name of the song is “Hell to Pay”.
October 7th, 2012 at 22:11Ps: My wife thought Gillan was a cool name, so my sons name is Gillan
October 7th, 2012 at 22:18Very nice rendition. Kudos to Professor Dr. Jasmin Komić.
October 7th, 2012 at 22:31Epic. Elect him ruler of the world.
October 7th, 2012 at 23:05Not too bad……………..he should expect a call from GH for a reunion……….really though, he is good!
October 7th, 2012 at 23:08cheers
It just goes to show, no matter what country your from or what age you are, Deep Purple’s music is truly global. The greatest band ever!
October 7th, 2012 at 23:20Wow…
October 7th, 2012 at 23:56Respect. Lovely Song.
October 8th, 2012 at 07:25Bravo. Blackmores Night still does this song in concert. We will see Them in Wilmington Del Oct. 28 2012
October 8th, 2012 at 11:24Remove Glasses
Add Poodle Wig
Lots of soft Lighting
& it’s a tribute act waiting to happen!
Was it hard to sing wearing a suit & Tie I wonder?
October 8th, 2012 at 11:38Very good (interesting), maybe ritchie replace candice for russian professor in blackers band.
October 8th, 2012 at 11:49Not bad at all.
Should give Blackers and Old Cov some pride to know that their song flies so far.
His audience, not over exited, does seem not completely recovered from the war.
October 8th, 2012 at 11:57Or maybe he just did not get his coffee yet.
And he forgot to repaint his hair on the top.
Deep Purple. Not just a group…but a life style…Good job and the dude can sing!
October 8th, 2012 at 13:00Phantastico! Absolutamente! I’m in awe of this Minister of Heavy Industries. What a talent has the world lost in this head banging minister.
October 8th, 2012 at 14:15… nice … in some comments before, I told us, that D.C. have had some face liftings …
Now I realize, it´s true … The Voice is the same as we all know !!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

October 8th, 2012 at 15:21Awesome. Tremendous voice’n’guitar. Must been a fine minister.
But the Sprska “David Lettermann” seems to be bored.
I don’t think David Coverdale can sing it now as good.
@PurpleRainbow
Great story. So one of the first infos about the new album: it will have backing vocals by a certain Mr. Gillan on a song called “Hell To Pay”. Thats more then I’ve heard otherwise about that album. I’m looking foreward.
Karl-Heinz
October 8th, 2012 at 15:48very nice …
October 8th, 2012 at 16:14Man, look how much Ritchie (or is that David?) has aged!
October 8th, 2012 at 16:31Seriously though, this guy is good!
Great story PurpleRainbow!
October 8th, 2012 at 16:55I love it Mr.Komic.
October 8th, 2012 at 18:54Super 🙂
October 8th, 2012 at 20:18Dig the PURPLE tie! 🙂
October 8th, 2012 at 20:46An excellent song Soldier of Fortune is! A nice version this, a timeless song, bravo to Blackmore & Coverdale. Stormbringer has 4 really great songs on it, & some other not so bad rock n’ roll tracks, if you are in the party mood. Sure as hell glad Gillan left Purple in ’73, otherwise we would never have had Burn & Stormbringer!
October 9th, 2012 at 05:51@2 Very interesting news! The album should be finished by now, probably well into the mixing process, so I guess it won’t be long until we know more! Thanks for sharing!
October 9th, 2012 at 14:29Vonderful indeed thanks for posting this! But vhat is a Vindmill?
October 9th, 2012 at 17:15Wow!! I Cant imagine any British ministers showing this level of musical talent (Any talent really) He plays and sings this very well indeed. his own interpretation of this wonderful song. The vocal phrasing is really cool and he seems to understand the meaning behind the lyric 🙂
October 10th, 2012 at 09:13@2 When was the recording? Recently?
October 10th, 2012 at 11:35@2 Do you know when this recording took place? And where?
October 10th, 2012 at 14:25This is in Sarajevo, Bosnia. Well in all ex-Yugoslavia DP was the most popular band, BS was 2nd place and LZ came on 4th after Uriah Heep – I’m talking about Mr. Jasmin’s generation.
It’s weird, as much as you traveling south and east from GB, DP is more and more popular.
October 10th, 2012 at 20:09I know him, he lives in my neighborhood, but this is unexpected suprise.
October 12th, 2012 at 16:47@Masse444
The recording took place at Nimbus School of Recording Arts on Oct. 10.
October 13th, 2012 at 02:54That`s my man! My country. My soul.
October 15th, 2012 at 12:04This is in Bosnia and Herzegovina, wonderfully 🙂
October 15th, 2012 at 12:23Serbian Republic is then indeed something special. A great man, a great song!
October 15th, 2012 at 13:27First I thought this is a joke or someone made fake audio. Afterwards I checked this out and quite unknown minister now became known in Bosnia and wider.
October 15th, 2012 at 15:06Really nice playing and singing!
Congrat dear profesor!!!!!
October 15th, 2012 at 16:30can you imagine, how old is this voice?
October 15th, 2012 at 17:19stay forever like this song, like this band!
well done old man!
maybe you should invite him to record a song with you..Deep Purple?
thank you Jasmin and person who recommended this song!
Cool
October 15th, 2012 at 17:29Really good voice ! Greetings from Republic of Srpska 😉
October 15th, 2012 at 18:15It’s less important where he’s from. What is important is that we have someone like that in one of our governments. However the man is one of few Bosniacs still in Republika Srpska. And RS is in fact a part of Bosnia-Herzegovina (note the remark by the author of the text above).
October 15th, 2012 at 19:53Great, … the people who like fishing and/or they who like singing are good people … no exception
October 15th, 2012 at 22:32Legendarno
October 15th, 2012 at 23:20Kudos to Dr. Komic. Great voice and he even doesn’t have an accent when singing in English (even Djokovic has thicker one haha).
Good luck Serbia! Komic rules, this is simply awesome..
October 16th, 2012 at 01:43Bravo, this song deserves all respect so does this wonderful man! He makes me proud to be born in the same country.

October 16th, 2012 at 18:32It`s important to say that this Minister is nominated for Nobel prize for peace.

October 25th, 2012 at 02:08Greetings to the Bosnian minister from Sweden.
November 4th, 2012 at 13:24Really great performance!
Kraljevski….
November 7th, 2012 at 13:26The education system in the country that was once called Yugoslavia was educated people with versatile capabilities and possesses a lot of talents that have created by severe and persistent work. This kind of fun with the guitar was usual in those days before the war in my home town. I’m glad that the world has the opportunity to see the beautiful things that originate from those regions that are not war. I am proud that someone as Mr Komic is proposed for the Nobel Peace Prize and of course it’s been so nice to listen to his enjoying voice and nice song that brings nice memories.
November 23rd, 2012 at 08:15Congrats Koma, Keep going!

Great performance, excelent voice and greetings to Mr.Komic
January 30th, 2013 at 21:06Just to note, up in the title should be written to the “republika srpska” part or entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
July 31st, 2014 at 10:48This can lead to confusion where a person comes from.
The Minister is wonderfully performed this song.
Greetings, your fan from Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Dr. Komić SHOULD HAVE been at some band at some point in his life. Does anyone know anything about that band and, hopefully, the recordings it could have made?
