Roger Bruce is a waste of space
The budding anthropologist in me (with no thanks to Dr. Brennan) says — here’s a fine specimen of the infamously dry British humour:
Thanks to Deep Purple YouTube channel for this gem.
Very funny.!

June 26th, 2011 at 07:20Yeah, old clip, 2003 if I remember well. Still, pretty funny.
June 26th, 2011 at 19:51This is great, thanks Nick, might have missed it otherwise.
June 26th, 2011 at 20:14Actually, I have to agree with Paicey. New management would be a great last ditch effort for Purple. Time to clean out the House of Payne….
Cheers
June 27th, 2011 at 00:30Still waiting for the new album though……somebody knows something ? any news ?
June 27th, 2011 at 07:46#7 is trippin out hard
June 27th, 2011 at 21:13@ 8
I just hope you did not have a Freudian slip.
June 27th, 2011 at 22:07Ian said “Bruce is a waste of space – sober!” Very funny.
June 29th, 2011 at 21:19This Management/Promotion issue drives me ‘Bananas’. It’s like the song from the album. “I’m going back there again…Back, back, back to the House of Payne”……
Man, Sometimes I Feel Like Screamin’.
Get rid of the Dead weight. Renew your management before the next album and tour. Hire a new crew. Get a better producer also. Roger himself after the show in Illinois stated blatantly that he was totally unhappy with the production of ROTD. We told him to do the next one. He doesn’t seem interested in doing that. Well, he needs to stand firm on replacing Bradford for the next record and at least oversee the task.
Also, start taking advantage of the Cable Music oriented programs. Joe Bonamassa has been on 3 mainstream programs on Direct TV over just the past month. He is taking advantage of the media and it is bleeding over to BCC also. Even Glenn Hughes and Jason Bonham are making appearances. When a new band such as BCC is more known than a staple long life band like Purple, someone is truly dropping the ball. The band rely entirely on their management for all things concerning album and tour promotion and scheduling. They are not getting their moneys worth nor their proper due in the spotlight.
Cheers
July 1st, 2011 at 18:30Amazing, some think that the Purple geezers will live forever.
July 2nd, 2011 at 00:05\
Tracy you have no idea what you are talking about.
Why on earth would the crew need replacing?
There is also no danger of Bradford producing the next album whatsoever, it’s not even a consideration. I personally think he did a great job on the production and keeping the band in check at what was a difficult time. He’s also a lovely bloke and is very popular amongst the Purple family.
July 4th, 2011 at 12:14I have no idea of what I am talking about????
I have been following Deep Purple’s adventures almost since their conception. I have witnessed their lack of exposure and promotion throughout their existence. This management team has been detrimental to their popularity and lack thereof. Yeah, it’s a little late in the game at this point, but I still would love to see them clear out the House of Payne and find an aggressive promotion team to carry them through the final countdown. There is so much that could be done, while nothing is actually happening. A truly lackluster management team led by that Payne in the Arse.
Cheers
July 15th, 2011 at 17:03As a matter of fact….You make a list and post it regarding what Payne and Co has done Right to promote this band since 1985, and I will double it with what he and Co hasn’t done. It’s a crying shame. This band has been Bamboozled.
Perfect title for the next album…..if they Fire the present management team…
Deep Purple “Bandboozled”
Gotta love this…I’m calling Roger with this one….
Cheers
July 16th, 2011 at 02:44What I dont understand is this :
If Payne is so bad why do they stick on with him?
Did they sign a strangle contract?
July 18th, 2011 at 21:31I don’t understand it either Chair. I guess the Band is satisfied with what he is doing. I guess Touring where they are popular without being pushed to the level they should be able to achieve is the ticket. But then there is the continued gripe that they are not known except for the 70’s…..(“MTV” from ROTD???).
Oh well. I at least get to hear some great music either way. That other crap is their loss….
Cheers
