Smoke on the Water by brass band
Now, here’s a cover you don’t hear every day:

Germany’s defence minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg has resigned recently amidst a scandal involving his doctorate degree. For his farewell tune he requested for the military band to play Smoke on the Water.
Sorry but it is a concert band (and good sounding).
March 16th, 2011 at 18:02Candice Night tweeted about it a few days ago. I know SOTW is practically an anthem in some places,Sounds good, good job.
March 16th, 2011 at 18:59Ofcourse theres no excuse for fraud but you ve got to love the man : )
March 16th, 2011 at 20:23This is utterly awesome.
March 16th, 2011 at 22:40Nice! and respect for minister Karl-Theodor that has admited his fault. here I have the little man Berlusconi, a shame….
March 17th, 2011 at 01:44Great!
March 17th, 2011 at 12:41…well the bloody bastards can`t leave anything alone, can they?! Never been ashamed like this before for being a Purplemaniac – for having anything in common with this dude. “Highway to hell” or “Jailhouse Rock” would have suited the rascal much better…as would the song “Alles nur geklaut” (It`s all just stolen) by the German band Die Prinzen…
March 17th, 2011 at 13:23Thoroughly enjoyable!
March 17th, 2011 at 13:41Although I thought the vocal interpretation was a little flat?
They must have adapted the Coverdale version!
American high school marching bands have been playing this sort of arrangement for years. (Most of them don’t know what it is mind you.)

He had to admit it.
March 17th, 2011 at 23:35It wasnt his plan to do so.
Ha ha ha, it’s a surprise indeed. Smoke by brass! I’ve never heard anything alike so far. Why not? I like brass bands. Quite nice.
March 18th, 2011 at 11:06When the verse started I had an image of a BOND film scene where the Villain would be chasing 007 on a Lake with lots of explosions!
Think the Broccoli family should look into this one!
The closing shots of BOND & Heroin swimming in the moonlight should have ‘Rapture’ playing, of course
– just lifting my face out of the bowl of Corn flakes – I’m back to reality now, you can all relax!
March 19th, 2011 at 16:51Utterly awesome! I know, marching bands have been playing this forever, but it looked a lot more dark and mysterious – and well played.
