Rocking in the high school
Those of you who follow our weird covers semi-permanent section, have seen many a weird thing 😉 . But a high school brass band doing Purple medley must be a first. Lots of Japanese girls (that rule) playing music we all love and this time they don’t hide their faces:

April 12th, 2009 at 17:25After hearing these versions of the classics, I will skip purple in the future..

April 12th, 2009 at 21:01Thanks for the link.
Especial thanks for moderating comments. I had almost stopped coming back here because of the ill mannered comments.
Japanese people always have to offer something outstanding and special while covering Deep Purple.
April 12th, 2009 at 21:41the last time I watched them covering maybe Smoke or Highway (don’t remember) played by the Japanese folk-instruments, in National Japanese clothes. this was the great example how Purple’s music can fit and rule two absolutely different cultures (western and eastern)
Knowing that I was a big Deep Purple fan, some students from the jazz band in the school where I work got together and serendaded me by playing “Smoke on the Water” outside my classroom window early in the morning some years back.
This is actually a symphonic band. Someone took a great deal of time to score this, and they did a great job. A lot more work than one might think was devoted to the final product.
April 13th, 2009 at 04:15Well, maybe it’s weird now, but belive me DP will be classic music one day.
April 13th, 2009 at 06:53Burn as a jazz number. (Adopts “The Fast Show” jazzmeister voice). Niice!! 😉
April 13th, 2009 at 07:22I love it!! A brass band, a symphony orchestra or a rock band, they can all power perform!
Music is a breaker of borders, and this goes to show just how good great music will cross all perceptions of genres.
I am a rock´n´roller at heart, however I love all great music!
April 13th, 2009 at 08:43a gem yes.
April 13th, 2009 at 10:13another proof that DP music is fun and is also classical.as JS Bach or Mozart is part of the world “patrimoine”.long live DP.CHEERS.
Purple, Japanese girls (and great musicians too!!) Does it get any better than that;-)
April 13th, 2009 at 11:37That was pretty cool!!! Gotta admire them ! Young & Old, Deep Purple touches everybody in some way!
April 13th, 2009 at 23:15That was fun!
April 14th, 2009 at 18:32Pretty cool stuff!!, could some of these young ladies be decendents of the GREAT fans that helped to make MIJ the classic of all live lp’s?
April 14th, 2009 at 20:35If I’m not mistaken, the riff from Burn came from a Gershwin song. I don’t remember the name but the riff’s from there.
April 15th, 2009 at 20:24Yup, that’s right TC! It’s “Fascinating Rhythm” !
