Made In Japan 2006
Dream Theater continue their tradition of covering a classic album in it’s entirety at any two-night stands in the same city. Earlier this month they performed Deep Purple’s “Made in Japan” at two shows in Japan (January 13 in Tokyo and January 15 in Osaka). The setlist was:
01. Highway Star
02. Child in Time
03. Smoke on the Water
04. The Mule / Drum Solo
05. Strange Kind of Woman
06. Lazy
07. Space Truckin’

January 28th, 2006 at 08:00I think somebody just posted some a recent Dream Theatre show at the Deep Purple Hub. Some great Purple, Whitesnake, Sabbath (Dio, Gillan, Gillen, and Hughes), and other great shows are also there. I love to hear about DT. They have always given DP props.

January 28th, 2006 at 17:38Nobody can cover Made In Japan. It is impossible because Made In Japan is the definitiv statement of Rock-Music in the Seventies. So, it is nice to hear, that they tried it but I don´t believe it will bring anything new to the songs.

February 10th, 2006 at 13:10Termos sim a honra de ouvir o Dream Theater homenageando o Deep Purple. Assim como foi feito com o Metállica e com o Iron Maiden, as apresentações coverizando o Pink Floyd e o Deep Purple também foram registradas para serem lançadas em breve pela Ytsejam Records.
Great!!!
February 17th, 2006 at 06:14well, then, that sounds interesting, there live rendetion of ‘perfect strangers’ was always good, but it did sound very close to the original. And to do a cover of ‘live in japan’ instead of ‘machine head’ live… interesting choice. i assume that they did not play the same ‘notes’ but only taken the ‘set list’ and added their own diminsion to the deep purple music, otherwise i do not see the point.
