Interviews Part
1 Part 2 Part 3 |
GLOVER TALKS ABOUT "WHO DO WE THINK WE ARE?"Choosing a suitable place in which to record is a very difficult task. Since the recording of "Machine Head" with the Rolling Stones mobile unit in a hotel corridor (which actually was more by accident than design), the problem of where to record the follow up album remained unsolved for a long time. Germany or Italy, we decided, would suit us as a general environment, and so enquiries went out. A villa outside Rome seemed like the ideal place, and August saw us in Italy enjoying the sunshine and starting on the album. As it turned out, the whole thing didn't happen for a number of different reasons, and we only managed to complete one track. Whether or not the impending tour of Japan was on our minds or not I don't know, but that track was "Woman From Tokyo". After returning from tours of Japan and America, we went to Franfurt in a village called Walldorf and there, 'with the Rolling Truck Stones thing' parked outside, we finished the album in about two weeks, despite complaints about the noise by some of the locals (who do they think they are?).
