Congratulations to Dr. Don
Don Airey has received an Honorary Doctorate of Music from the University of Sunderland. The ceremony was held at the Stadium of Light in Sunderland on Wednesday, 27 November 2024, where he was joined by friends and family. Don thus joins the ranks of the academic community within the band.

Congratulations, Don. It was the best choice for the band in 2002. It’s interesting that for some reason keyboard players are always recognized around the world. They are surrounded by respect and love. Perhaps everyone naturally agrees that pianists, organists, and keyboard players are top predators in the food chain of musical life. They’re the maestro for all the musicians.
