Utterly magnificent

Metal Talk reviews the London gig from November 6:

Whilst the line-up may have changed over the years, there is still the undoubted spectacle of seeing genuine rock legends playing some of the best rock songs ever written. Not only is their back catalogue the envy of practically every other band on the planet right now, they have never been content to rest on their laurels.

With their current (ahem) purple patch of great new albums, they are on commanding form.

Many bands seem lost in giant places like The O2, but Deep Purple fill the place with sound, light and sheer force of personality. Here, despite the large and crystal-clear video screens that dominate the top of the stage, the music does the talking.

Nice review, saw them on 29th october in the Ziggodome in Amsterdam. Indeed its an experience, all the years goes through your mind watching them. They are still there and are still very enthousiastic playing their songs. But….ohoh. 1,5 hours is too short, its what they do always but still, its too short, and in fact that is a compliment. We want to see more of them. They play the same setlist in the same ay every night, same jokes and so. But the most weird thing is that Airey and McBride solostuff they do, thats about 20-25minutes already of the show while they could play more from other albums too than mainly Machinehead.
A wonderfull night it was, but their standards are still so high that you just expect a little bit more. Hope to see them again in 2025 or 2026 with a no Machineheadshow, that would be great, well 2 or 3 songs are allowed 😉

Where did all that former Brit detachment to one of their great bands go?

There is no doubt that the loud meaty sound of Simmon McBride guitar is well suited for large arenas. If I had to change something for the setlist is to shorten the dual between Simon and Don during Hush and add another song to the list. I would love to hear Woman from Tokyo riff played By Simon.
    Peace ✌️

I think that for Purple at the venerable age of 80 years old, finding (or finding again) the favor of the critics in England, in Europe, in America and all over the world, is a revenge….but that’s not the important thing for them, but a satisfaction for sure
