Just arrived in the city…

Here’s a nicely filmed audience video of the complete show in Holmdel, NJ, from August 31, 2024.

Thanks to Tito Santana for the video and to BraveWords for the heads-up.

    This is a very good show.Well done,McPurps !!
Just out of curiosity, now that =1 has been out in the world for a while, how is the album sitting in the ears of us THS folk?? The initial rush of having new Purple music has faded for me,but the album sits comfortably in my collection.

I was at this show and will see them again next week. I hope that a live release comes out from this years touring before the end of the year. I doubt if it will but I can always hope.

My impression is that it is overall very well received here, in part even rapturous, yet there are resistance pockets of Morsellians that have now assumed the minority position formerly held by the Blackmorites to whom Deep Purple is a kind of glorified Rainbow, i.e. no life without Ritchie. 😄

I personally think it’s a very good album, not brilliant, but ‘just’ very good, which is a fine standard. I’d rate it with THOBL, Purpendicular, Now What?! and perhaps Whoosh!/Abandon among the top five of DP’s post 70s albums. That’s more than respectable, an album that good at the end of a four decade period. I was hoping for it to be that good, but certainly not taking it for granted.

Now if the next album was a little more experimental and Simon’s tuneful voice employed a bit as well …

aside from the fact that I would remove space truckin because it’s a very tiring song for Ian Gillan, I would say that his performance gets better and better as the tour dates go by!
    god bless him!
