I think there’ll be a lot of blending with the keyboard on Whoosh. Mr Ezrin seems to favour the guitar in a supportive role.

Nice to see Steve’s not wearing a brace.Hope his wrist is doing better.
Mike @1….I would hope there would be more guitar on the new album too, however I am not confident there will be, given the relatviely short length of the songs. There won’t be much soloing it seems; and any guitar / keyboard interplay will probably be quite minimal and confined to the basic structure of each song.
June 21st, 2020 at 19:05I’ve always liked those sweeping guitar chords. Steve plays them so nicely and it’s part of what makes The Well-dressed Guitar or Uncommon Man such great pieces. The orchestral arrangement of Man Alive is really what got me within the first few seconds, just brilliant.

Steve is a vastly underrated rhythm guitarist and chord structurer. With all due respect to you know who, Steve is in a different league in THAT department. Ritchie was never innovative with chords or tunings, not his style (he was/is amazing with scales in his solos).
Whenever I hear Steve play with little volume, I’m surprised by the ferocity of his right hand playing, he really really digs in, it makes the guitar sound percussive. Another difference to Blackmore, who has a much more light-handed touch.
I’m waiting for a joint guitar instrumentals album between the two – would be interesting!
