Good news, everybody!
Steve Morse was at the NAMM convention this year (like he does almost every year), and spoke to Andertons Music about his plans for 2019. The two takeaway moments are:
- He will be recording two new albums — one with the Flying Colors and one with Deep Purple;
- more Purple live dates are being booked.
Thanks to Deep Purple Tour Page for the heads up.
New purple album ??
January 30th, 2019 at 16:31Good news…but most defo Purple’s farewell record…
January 30th, 2019 at 16:33Yeah, that’s the best news so far for this year, and that’s one of the reasons that I’m already more than 30 years fan of this band.
January 30th, 2019 at 16:57You keep on movin’ …..
…….we’re space truckin round the stars, come on let’s go Space Truckin !!!
oh wow a new album with Purple!
I hope Bob Ezrin will be involved with this one as well,to complete the trinity.
January 30th, 2019 at 16:58New Purple album? oh wow! I’m not sure if they have the time to commit with all the touring schedule, but I hope Bob Ezrin is involved with this one as well to complete the trinity.I am hoping for a longer album and no fillers this time.
January 30th, 2019 at 17:00Deep purple the Boss
January 30th, 2019 at 17:11The Erzin triology!?!
January 30th, 2019 at 17:21Ezrin did one Kansas album in 1988 with Steve all I know.
January 30th, 2019 at 17:24wow oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 30th, 2019 at 17:49He produced Now What?! And Infinite.capiche??
January 30th, 2019 at 18:17Yeah, but sadly Ezrin isn’t a Steve Morse fan… there are many anecdotes when he produced Kansas how he would get on Steve’s case, and in an interview he threw a subtle dig masked with a phony praise.
Frankly, I’m not an Ezrin fan.
January 30th, 2019 at 19:06Very excited to hear of an upcoming DP album! I’m LOVING Infinite…
January 30th, 2019 at 21:07And bring Dreggs to Biloxi asap, too, Steve…
I hope so. He did a great job so far.
January 30th, 2019 at 21:33A new Purple album and possibly tour dates in the States!!!! YES!!!
January 30th, 2019 at 21:55Glad to hear of more tour dates. I moved to Ireland in 2017 (right before they played New Jersey) and have not seen them on this tour yet. I need to keep my record going. I’ve seen them on every tour since 85. Hopefully there is an Ireland date this year. Glad to hear a new album. The last two have been superb.
January 30th, 2019 at 21:59That is fantastic!! Hope the tour includes Brazil!! Long live to Deep Purple!!!!
January 30th, 2019 at 22:51If they release it in 2020 they will have released albums in 7 decades…
January 30th, 2019 at 23:04Anyone taking bets on what the new album might be called?. Hmmm… it’s like glass caskets… remains to be seen!. ☺
January 30th, 2019 at 23:13Amazing news. Hopefully a third Ezrin album.

January 31st, 2019 at 01:59The best band in the world is still alive!
Wonderful news!
Yes , great news…
January 31st, 2019 at 04:56Retirement from life is impossible. Their music is their life and they live on stage. Now what do you think the new title will be. ‘ From Earth to immortality’ might be a good starting idea
January 31st, 2019 at 07:14@ 1 The one Steve is recording with Deep Purple will be a live one from the shows in Mexico and Chille from 2018.
January 31st, 2019 at 18:03“I hope the new DP album will be an instrumental one…..”
You made my day! 😉
January 31st, 2019 at 18:08what????????? more money to earn in another Purple album?????? you don,t know how happy I am. Here from Buenos Aires greetings for all of you. Have a great new Purple album!!!!!!!
January 31st, 2019 at 22:54Hi, everyone out there!
Just seen the video… Steve Morse lucky and relaxed as always.
Can you imagine a similar interview with Ritchie, when an interviewer puts his hand on his shoulder and touches him??? – NO WAY!!!
Let’s wait for the new albums, I guess the Flying Colors thing comes first.
Have a nice Day!
February 1st, 2019 at 01:20I hope Morse, Airey, Glover, and Paice put their heads together and jam, jam, jam so that the album goes heavy on instrumental passages. That is no dig at Gillan, just my own note of appreciation for Deep Purple’s many songs that are complete instrumentals or else songs with very long instrumental passages. It is one of the band’s greatest strengths, and one that I feel like they have sometimes overlooked in the years since their 1984 reforming. Morse and Airey are both guys who have written loads of instrumental music; it would be right up their alley. “Lazy,” “Mandrake Root,” Wring That Neck,” “Owed to ‘G’,” the list goes on.
February 1st, 2019 at 02:17A new record is very good news. It was a bit hard to believe that they would engage in a new writing and recording session once again. Will this one be their Sgt. Pepper of which IG talked about some time (maybe 20 years) ago. I hope they have the courage to do something different (I’m sure they have). BTW, what is the situation with IG’s novel Middlesex? Forgotten altogether? And how is RG progressing with his memoirs? Anyone know anything?
February 1st, 2019 at 09:18It’s great that guys continue to play, after a very good “Now What”, “Infinte” is better / Five big songs “” Time for Bedlam “,” All I Got Is You “,” The Surprising “,” Birds of Prey “…. fifth was not on the setlist on the last tour , and… no video !!?? “Hip Boots” amazing solo by Steve Morse.Bob Ezrin does a good job with guys, especially with Ian Gillan voice.I wait patiently
February 2nd, 2019 at 07:29Wait a second… I know what they’ll do! They’ll title the new album “Kiss”.
February 2nd, 2019 at 23:46Then they’ll begin their “The End Of The Road” tour.
Hang on… hasn’t that already been done by some other band?!… 😆
25Buttockss says:
@ 1 The one Steve is recording with Deep Purple will be a live one from the shows in Mexico and Chille from 2018
No, it won’t. It’s a new studio album. They are going to record in Nashville again.
February 3rd, 2019 at 09:24Reaaly hope for one more Tour, last year was one of the best DP shows I have ever seen. I think the band had some family with them at the Valby event. In any case there was a platform next to the stage, with quite a few people watching from the side. This seemed to energise the band even more….what a night
February 4th, 2019 at 11:10A new album in 2021 or 2022!!! Awesome!!!
I will buy it in CD, vinyl and cassette tape, if there will be one.
I hope it’s an epic double album this time, 75 minutes of hard rockin music, just like Iron Maiden’s “The Book of Souls”.
