MESSAGE FROM IAN PAICE
From www.deeppurple.com
To all the people who were expecting to see Deep Purple in Sweden and Denmark this week I would like to let you know the reason the shows were not possible, and also to stop all the speculation and rumours.
On the morning of the 14th of June I woke up to find that the right side of my body was feeling numb and I could not control my right hand and fingers.
So I had myself admitted to hospital where I was diagnosed with having suffered a “mini stroke”, or TIA. The hospital staff in Stockholm were amazing and started my treatment straight away.
After both CT and MIR scans there was found to be no serious or permanent damage. As of this moment all I am suffering is a slightly numb right side of the face a tingling sensation in my right hand. My dexterity in the hand is coming back quickly and I fully expect to re commence touring next month.
So now I have a set of tablets which have to be taken every day to ensure it doesn’t happen again!.
So sorry for not being able to play for you.
And I’m sorry for myself!
These are the first shows I have missed with DP since its formation in 1968.
Thanks to all the people who have shown concern and sent their best wishes.
-Ian Paice.
with thanks to www.deeppurple.com
We all here at THS wish you a speedy recovery.

June 16th, 2016 at 23:26All the best Paicey boy!?
June 16th, 2016 at 23:42All the best for a speedy & complete recovery Ian!
June 16th, 2016 at 23:42Dear Ian, best wishes to you for a speedy recovery, you are very much loved by us your fans. Please don’t try to force yourself back into work to quickly just to please us fans. YOUR GOOD HEALTH COMES FIRST!.
June 16th, 2016 at 23:49I know a little of what you’ve suffered, as something similar happened to me a few months ago. However it sounds like your condition is a bit more serious than mine.
The doctor started me on a high dose B.P. medicine, then later changed it to a daily (low dose) tablet of perindopril erbumine 2 milligrams to lower my blood pressure. I will probably be on them for the rest of my life.
Now when someone tells me that they are hard of hearing, I say that’s O.K., because I am hard of thinking!. Chin up old bean & more power to you & your loved ones.
Tanti auguri grande Ian

June 17th, 2016 at 10:50I remember meeting him in Melbourne just outside the Palais theatre after a show in Melbourne in “99” . A real true gentleman, he gave me time, answered a few questions gracefully and was so self affacing!

June 17th, 2016 at 14:44Best wishes
OMG!!! Ian, I just wish to convey my deep appreciation for the inspiration you have given me over the past decades. I remember hearing HUSH for the first time and noticing your distinct rhythm and sound. I was 13 years old and playing drums on my neighbor’s drum set at that time, so I was always noticing and tuned into the drumming when listening to songs on the radio. My ears perked up and my automatic attention was totally in sync with your style of playing and immediately you became my inspiration and favorite drummer. I pray to GOD that you are blessed with a complete recovery and are back on the stage with your band mates. I know you are driven and live to sit on that drum thrown, holding down the fort with Roger. GODSPEED on your return to your passion my friend. I have had the pleasure to chat with you on many occasions on tour over the past years and look forward to another chat with you when you guys come to the STATES again. I am fully confident that you will be 100% in no time. In JESUS name I pray….. AMEN!

June 17th, 2016 at 17:20Get well soon. We hope to see you and Deep Purple i Sweden soon
June 17th, 2016 at 18:18Hi Ian,
June 17th, 2016 at 18:32I am 49 and suffered a stroke when I was 46 and a TIA last year. The impact over a long time was devastating. However I found the best therapy was music not just listening but continuing to play. For my recovery Deep Purple have played their part too. Giving me music I loved before the stroke to listen to and continuing to come and see you play live, including the Sunflower Jam.
I hope you make a speedy recovery and that your music plays a part in that. Stay positive.
All the best
Rohan
All the best Ian. Take your time and get well soon.
June 17th, 2016 at 21:04Best Wishes, Mr. Paice
June 17th, 2016 at 21:05Get well Ian. You are my biggest influence on the drums.
June 17th, 2016 at 21:26Ian, que te recuperes bien y pronto. Te falta mucho que dar en la música.
June 17th, 2016 at 22:01Best wishes and quickest recovery, Ian. But first, take care of yourself and your family. We have tons (miles, kilometers, gigabytes) of your music to listen to while you’re recovering. Take your time and whenever you’re ready, we’ll be ready too.
June 17th, 2016 at 23:05Ian, get well soon! Jesus, what a shock but fortunately you already feel better. After all that’s a comforntingly good message, thank god. I’m looking forward to your recovery but take your time! Cheers.
June 17th, 2016 at 23:31All the best to Ian, the very definition of a legend.
One of the miracles of modern medicine is if you survive something like that they can now stop it happening again. Hopefully a full recovery, and take the meds.
June 17th, 2016 at 23:47Get well soon Ian! You are the center of the Deep Purple universe! Be well!
June 18th, 2016 at 03:55Get well soon!
You deserve at least now, finally, a proper vacation from the impossibly demanding touring schedule.
Listen to Your heart and soul, and the doctors´orders, of course.
You´re the best expert here.
Having met You a couple of times (thank You for that) – my hero for over 35 years, can´t think anyone so
loyal person and perfect gentleman. You always have time for fans. Man of maybe few words sometimes, but more drumbeats instead.
Being a drummer myself, I had a mysterious pain in my left arm, elbow and one finger last year.
It took four months to recover, I had some luck maybe though and suitable therapy and treatment.
Now it´s alright again.
We´re getting older and must work for our health a little bit more every day, I guess.
It´s so nice to have these sincere words straight from You Yourself.
And as Rajaseudun Rampe said. Unbelieveable.
All the best Wishes from Helsinki.
You´re in our thoughts.
See You again sometime in the future!
June 18th, 2016 at 06:02God bless you and give you strength that you get well again. Thank you for all the years, you’re DP.
June 18th, 2016 at 07:34Best wishes from Germany. Get well soon.
June 18th, 2016 at 10:29Be better soon Ian and don’t forget your meds!
Kind regards,
June 18th, 2016 at 10:56Ronnie
At a drum clinic in 2004, he mentioned that the only time he came close to missing a Purple show was when they toured India and he was suffering from a bad case of the runs! 🙂

I wish you all well and I Hope you sonn will be back on stage. 🙂 Greates from your danish fan Tommy
June 18th, 2016 at 19:09With Ritchie,”out to play the old songs one last time” (his words), this is a timely reminder even heroes are mortal.
I’ve had both family & friends suffer TIAs in recent years & all have made full recoveries. I’m sure that Ian will too. Best wishes for a full recovery & getting behind that kit again soon.
