Trying not to make too many mistakes (and the tech that helps)
Deep Purple’s monitor company HK Audio interviewed Ian Paice during the last German tour:
Band’s monitor engineer extraordinaire Rob Hodgkinson speaks about the nuts and bolts of the job. Most of you would not be familiar with his work, as he is the man responsible for members of the band hearing each other on stage. The sound he produces is completely separate from the front-of-the-house feed that you hear in the audience. The only chance to hear it is to happen to be on stage (or very, very close to it) during a show. His talk is quite entertaining, the first half should be of interest even to non-techies:
There’s a bonus jazz number at the end.
Thanks to Yvonne for the info.
Nice little interview with Mr P. Will keep Robs until the morrow.
December 31st, 2015 at 00:01Rob’s a true professional and a great gentleman. Funny, easy-going and a master of his craft. Amazing to watch him work. Side stage is great for more than watching the band! No crew – no show! Rob and his counterparts are the oil in the DP machine.

December 31st, 2015 at 23:24Lovely interviews.
I really enjoyed the jazzy playing at the end of the second video. If there’s an instrument Don is particularly good at, it most definitely is the piano IMHO – worlds ahead of his Hammond playing I must say.
By the way, happy new year to everyone!
Cheers,

Ian Paice = LEGEND !
January 1st, 2016 at 16:53Ian Paice said during another interview that the band will enter the studio in late January to work on pieces that will form the new album, following ‘ Now What came out 3 years ago. He added that more than enough material Deep Purple have ‘ ‘ and that at the end of the selection process, will remain the 10-11 pieces that will be deemed best. The producer will be Bob Ezrin (Kiss, Kansas, Pink Floyd and many others).
