Steve Morse in tribute to veterans
Steve Morse has contributed a track to the tribute album dedicated to the veterans of American wars. The album, called Guitars For Wounded Warriors, was produced, engineered and composed by Emmy Award winner Brian Tarquin, with contributions from SM, Billy Sheehan, Gary Hoey, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Reb Beach, Hal Lindes (Dire Straits), Chris Poland (Megadeth), and Chuck Loeb.
Steve says:
It is an honor to be a part of this cause. I was just turning drafting age at the end of the Vietnam War, and I still remember that the returning military weren’t always treated with the greatest respect. For our modern, volunteer military, we hopefully have learned to show our respect and gratitude. They don’t set the policy, but they set the standards.
His contribution appears on the final track of the album called Freedom.
Guitars For Wounded Warriors will be released on August 19 via Cleopatra Records.

August 12th, 2014 at 23:46Gotta have it. If it supports and is a tribute to the world’s greatest defenders of Freedom, how can it be denied a listen. Plus a Steve Morse contribution by the name of ‘Freedom’? Hmmmm, could it be a cover of the old Purple non-LP outtake? Most likely not, but I have a feeling it will be very moving and heart felt. The US Military is responsible for freeing countries all over the world and without their intervention, many of the fans on this page wouldn’t be allowed to even listen to, much less own a Purple Album today….. Remember those days? It wasn’t that long ago for some of you.
BUY THIS ALBUM and Thank a US Veteran for your ability to do so. GOD BLESS THEM!!!

Whilst you are waving the flag, we all know any military cause has other vested interests, is it ever just for the ‘freedom of people’? Cheers.

August 14th, 2014 at 10:37Yes I am waving the flag. Still to this day folks from all over the world flock to it in retreat from their homelands due to inhumane living conditions. It ain’t perfect, but it is by far the greatest nation in existence. We are the most charitable and giving people on the planet. Matter of fact to the tune of our future demise. When we are gone it will be Hell to Pay for all else. Do we sometimes have vested interest in some of the conflicts? I should hope so. One thing about it, our win is usually somebody else’s win also. Aside from the military conflicts we have taken part in, we send billions and billions of dollars (Tax Payer Dollars), to hundreds of countries as aid. Yes, War is Hell. But without us and our military involved, it would truly be hell on Earth by now…… As for the propaganda vid you sent….. No thanks.

I just happened to look at Geezer’s site not long after being here & reading your comment & I had a quick look at the song & as I was thinking about the forgotten ones, I sent it with my comment. It also saved me the time & effort to say the same thing in many ways. I don’t like the song or the band though, just the message in it!
August 14th, 2014 at 21:59Everyone loves a winner in all things, no many want to know about the losers! A shame indeed, but if the musicians involved in this ‘project’ can help the people who actually do the fighting, it has to be a positive!
Greatest nation in existence? No nation is the greatest & most nations treat their own just as appallingly, again not many want to hear about that. If the US government was the greatest nation, surely they would treat their own citizens a little better don’t you think! As we all go about our own existence in our ‘freedom’ countries, we must never forget the unfortunate who are not in such a ‘winnable’ situation. Being a ‘colonial’ offshoot here in Australia, we look at Britain & a few other European countries as our ‘freedom’ fighter in many aspects. The US is also a part of that, in some ways that is a good thing & in others it is not!. It is all in the name of ‘Democracy’ as they call it & we do tend to take it (freedom) for granted in many ways. Many countries send zillions of dollars to help others & also allow immigration to other people for different reasons. It isn’t only the US involved in helping others! Cheers.

And no, that has nothing to do with free speech (which some people always go on about when they are told to change subject) but with staying on subject. I would love to discuss US and world politics with Tracy but I think we will have to find another forum for that. 🙂
