May 19th, 2014 at 07:46The CDs are held just by the book, no extra boxex for them so you would have trouble to take them in the car or something. A pity I think – especially given the price of this set. Very dissapointed by that.
May 19th, 2014 at 08:56Mine has been delivered, typically I’m in the office today so the suspense is killing me
May 19th, 2014 at 11:15@2 Max,
I just took a couple of normal CD paper-sleeves, cut the lower half into a half-round shape, placed the CD’s in them and they perfectly fit into the book cutouts. It’s also much easier to pull them out.
CD’s and in the car, ….Hmmmmm…., I would never do that.
Burn them on CD-R’s, place the burnt ones in slimcases and your good to go for usage in the car. You don’t even have to worry no more about heat and cold.
Just an idea?!
Greetings,

Finally ordered my copy. Awaiting delivery. ROCK ON!!!
May 20th, 2014 at 02:00I have heard that the footage from Tokyo 1972 has been ‘drip fed’ as i thought they would do. Small clips only. 26 min exist and that is the only reason i bought this set. I hope my source info is wrong, though i doubt it. Who do i write and complain to?…!? And would that do any good? Guess our grandkid’s will get to see the entire footage after we’re long gone!
May 20th, 2014 at 05:12My boxed set arrived yesterday – it’s wonderful that one of the most important series of recordings in Rock history has been recognised in such a way. As the late great and sadly missed Jon Lord said ” it is a snapshot of a band at the top of its game! ” The quality of the musicianship the sound the music I don’t believe it will ever be surpassed. To those cynical individuals who will say this is just a money making exercise or are simply pissed off with the packaging, wake up a smell the coffee! this is an amazing public record of one of the best Rock bands this country if not the world has ever produced. Made in Japan will remain as fresh today as it did when it was first released as it will in 40 years time.
May 20th, 2014 at 09:16Got my Super Deluxe Boxed set today. Whoever placed the sticker (tracklist) on the back of the box at the top need bloody shooting, it is all crooked, they must have been pissed when sticking it on.
May 20th, 2014 at 14:24Apart from that it is all good.
The coupon that came with my box has given me downloads of the three concerts (including encores) in 24/48 quality – but no sign of the original album in both original mix and remix in 24/96 as specified on the coupon, on the box and on the sticker on the wrapping…
May 20th, 2014 at 16:49#9
I got the same bit Auto Rip through Amazon gave me the original mix.
On to the product…
I’ve listened to all three concerts a couple of times, wow amazing to listen to as ever but Tokyo on the 17th is out of the universe. There are a few bits of bleeding across channel and the odd volume change but that is being overly critical.
The DVD is another story. I would have been happy with only the clips and married audio regardless of the editing etc. They should have put this on as an extra.
May 20th, 2014 at 21:21Just finished watching the doc, it was ok, although I am very disappointed that the Tokyo 1972 footage was not also presented in its entirety as a separate feature on the disc. They included the option to view the other footage in their entirety from the Menu screen so why not the Tokyo footage???
May 20th, 2014 at 23:45It is pretty annoying when watching the Tokyo 1972 footage when it is constantly interrupted with interview just when you are getting into it.
The longest uninterrupted Tokyo 1972 clip is of “Smoke On The Water” right at the end of the doc, but even that is interrupted near the end.
One of the main reasons I bought this Super Deluxe Boxed set was specifically for the DVD and the Tokyo 1972 footage. I paid enough for it and they couldn’t even include it in it’s entirety, uninterrupted without the interviews, what a shame.
Tom Fitzpatrick @ 7 or anyone else…
May 20th, 2014 at 23:54Here in the US it does not get released until May 27th.
Please, the suspense is killing me! How much of the footage is on the DVD out of the 26 minutes that exist…?!? Is it synched up to sound or not?
@6
It was said when they found the MIJ footage that no complete songs were filmed. Only clips. And I think 90 seconds was the longest uninterrupted clip which was Highway Star. So all we will get are parts of songs.
May 21st, 2014 at 02:39@ 6,
If we are talking about 8 mm films, you cannot expect to have complete songs. It was widely known that only short snipets of the actual performance were filmed, ca. 20 minutes in total. Let´s be thankfull that this historic footage exists and has been made available.
May 21st, 2014 at 19:21It was sateted by the DP (O) that the whole 20 minutes were to be included, and synched.
May 21st, 2014 at 21:27@14
May 22nd, 2014 at 23:16I am well aware that these are not complete songs and, I am VERY thankful! I was just wanting to know how much of the 26 min of footage was included on the DVD that is in the box set I’ll get next week. I finally got my answer from a fellow trader who has it. Cheers!
Firstly good to see amazon have reduced the price from a ludicrous £92.down to £67.00 ,however after viewing the reviews from people who have bought it I have yet to see a decent review, from the Blue Ray which is not recorded in 5.1 only stereo to a universal almost ,from amazon reviews at least ,view that Kevin Shirley has produced the worst version of MIJ currently on sale.
So I just gave a play to the remastered and original versions and have come to the conclusion that it simply isn’t going to be improved upon so i have put the credit card back in the wallet , for now.
May 26th, 2014 at 12:15Well what can i say, finally my copy arrived from the U.K. very well packaged an excellent 60 page book with lost of memories from a number of rock stars sharing their thoughts on how influential the album was on their careers. Inclusive is a 28 page booklet representing the 3 days in Japan, the only problem it’s in Japanese but oh well there is not much you can do. The 60 documentary is interspersed with some “live” footage mostly in black and white and an occasional color footage, in the end you have to remember there was very around 20-25 minutes that were filmed, but i am thankful there
May 27th, 2014 at 06:28is at least some rare “visuals”. Also during the course of the of the live footage we have interviews with all members of Deep Purple and including the late great Jon Lord and that in itself is priceless, and Glenn Hughes. All in all a great snapshot as to see how powerful Deep Purple were at that time. Great stuff.
The 2cd deluxe version has on CD1 a Kevin Shirly Remix of the original album. CD2 has all the encores mixed by Martin Pullan. The single disc version is just a remaster of the original album and then there’s the box with all the shows. It makes sense after all!
May 27th, 2014 at 15:32Just got mine today. Where was Roger’s sound hiding all this time! His Bass on 8/16 (only show i listened to yet) has got my Tinnitus flared up for sure!!
May 28th, 2014 at 04:45There is a problem though, no Download card and the back cover of the box is peeling away. Anyone else missing the HD Download card? Should I return the entire box….Hmmmm?
Hello,
May 28th, 2014 at 15:46I git the box set yesterday and looked through it, it ia a beautiful set. I only had a chance to listen to the final night and it is a truly amazing document in time.
Question, I had no download card in my box!, Did anyone else experience this and who do i write to to get one.
I do not want to return it!
Please can anyone confirm if the documentary includes the 20 minutes (sliced of corse) of Tokyo 72 footage?
May 28th, 2014 at 21:31@21
May 29th, 2014 at 05:12I posted elsewhere about this as i did not get one either. If you bought from Amazon they will let you return it or refund 30% and you keep it! Great company…I’m impressed!
@22
I asked for an answer to this as well for weeks. Yes, about 15 min. worth and talked over more often than not. I plan to sync the clips with the Tokyo cd sound when ever i have nothing else to do. They really should have had a chapter with the B&W footage only. Still, great to see and I AM thankful it was included! Especially great to watch Ritchie and his great showmanship. No other musician has ever held my interest more!
My deluxe box set arrived yesterday. Download voucher is missing, very annoying.
May 29th, 2014 at 09:30Hello Scott W and Tood E.
I just received my box and the download card was missing as well.
May 29th, 2014 at 17:43It appears that all boxed sets sold in the US come without the download voucher. What a piss!!!
May 29th, 2014 at 18:14Foxbatf, Just found out the download coupon is apparently only in the European/UK box set which is a pretty poor effort, why not include it in all of the sets?
May 31st, 2014 at 19:18Just got my box set today. Good thing for this site, I was also wondering about the download coupon, but nothing. If they were not going to include it, it should not be advertised on the sticker on the packaging (“original album 1972 + 2013 mixes in HD audio (via download)” ) nor mention it in the book. I spent $90 for the box- not disappointed with the CDs- great to compare each show- and have yet to read the book or watch the DVD, but a little let down about the coupon for the download missing.
June 20th, 2014 at 23:25Hi there, bought my deluxe box today and the HD download coupon was also missing.I can’t return the box since i live in Argentina so let me know what should we do about this. Thanks
