North American dates announced
Thames Talent has announced the North American tour schedule for August this year. The grand tour of county fairs and casinos will start on August 5 in Ventura, California, and finish on August 31 in Hollywood, Florida.
Full details in our calendar. Apart from the Casino Rama show there is no ticket information at this point in time.
Almost all North America*. Mexico belongs to it, and Purple are not coming. 🙁
March 13th, 2014 at 00:15that is cool,I see they are touring the West Coast, not only East Coast. This is good for the band.
March 13th, 2014 at 00:27Woo HOOOOOOOO
March 13th, 2014 at 00:32How about the Northeast? How about New England? How about Boston?
March 13th, 2014 at 00:39First, I hate seeing that they are playing county fairs, I hope they headline over the puppet show!!!!!! Second they are not getting anywhere near me! May have to travel.
March 13th, 2014 at 01:08Cuando tocaran en latinoamerica? en (Mexico) para ser mas precisos.
March 13th, 2014 at 01:08Well, not impressed by the venues/cities.. The band is really dying commercially… Or, probably finally dead in the US.. Virtually no major city, no major venue, unlike the previous Orchestral tour that saw them performing in a prestigous venues like NY’s Beacon Theater or several huge PACs
March 13th, 2014 at 01:17old news? 2014 north American tour?
March 13th, 2014 at 01:17SOUTH AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 13th, 2014 at 02:26WTF- no Texas dates? what’s all this casino/Hard Rock venue stuff? Texas has neither but lots of other great venues. I was hoping for more. I guess this is what we get in this country after an excellent Now What!? album and absolutely no radio airplay for purple. I’ve heard not one song in any music rotation of this album from any station I’ve listened to in the past year. I couldn’t even get my local radio station to play “Vincent Price” on Halloween when they were looking for songs with that theme. Anyway I guess I’ll see them again in Orlando…
March 13th, 2014 at 02:47Great News !!

March 13th, 2014 at 11:28Hope there are more dates that THIS 14 in total & only 12 in the US. NONE in the Northeast .
March 13th, 2014 at 11:51Looks like ?! will not get properly promoted here at all.
The US is turning into a graveyard for proper Rock bands to tour.

March 13th, 2014 at 16:58Well, it takes a massively cheesy fair/casino tour in order for them to get around to my state for the first time since 1985. Still have to travel, but at least they’re playing.
March 13th, 2014 at 17:41greece tour???
March 13th, 2014 at 17:59It’s the “Tap Into America” tour!
March 13th, 2014 at 19:09Nice to see that they’re giving North America a taste of their talent. They won’t be close enough for me to attend a show, so I’m envious of the folks who will be in teh presense of greatness…
March 13th, 2014 at 21:09West coast shows, here I come, again!
March 13th, 2014 at 22:07I’m thrilled……….. but could it be the last time to see them here in US?
March 13th, 2014 at 22:20George @ 7:
on this tour the band is going to play in:
los angeles
san francisco/san jose (a.k.a. silicon valley)
chicago
detroit
new york city
orlando
miami
plus, within an hour or two from seattle, san diego, portland oregon, toronto, and new orleans.
in terms of geographic coverage, i’d say it’s a vast improvement of the 2011 tour
March 14th, 2014 at 01:04I agree, Nick, but the venue factor goes to show how bad it is here. And I never thought Purple would stoup, but I’m also learning how the fees don’t discriminate venue size, or location for that matter. Same rate if it’s a 200 seat tavern. The bar MSG played in here last month for the same fee of the theaters they’re playing, shows how FUBAR the US has finally gotten. Tool played the Rose Garden here in Portland last week…. where’s their four national Billboard charting album??????? 😉
March 14th, 2014 at 01:31Last time I saw them they were playing Radio City Hall in NYC ! Now small venues!Commercially they are really dying or dead in The States.
March 14th, 2014 at 04:49And they know it,that’s why not so many dates in major cities.
Wow, I am a little conflicted. I always joked with friends that playing the Ventura County Fair was a sure sign your career was over. We’re not big like LA… But I am certainly stoked to see Purple in SoCal again. I hope to catch a couple of shows!
March 14th, 2014 at 05:44Will be front of the line at Casino Rama’s pre-box office ticket sale on Sunday morning.
March 14th, 2014 at 11:44I would think there are dates to follow. Thankfully I am an hour and a half or so from the Englewood NJ gig. The theater sits a few short miles from the Hudson River in the shadow of the George Washington Bridge. Anyone planning on attending not familiar with the area need get there real early. Traffic is typically a nightmare especially on a weeknight in and out of NYC. :<
Peace,

There are still plenty of holes that can be filled in the August Schedule. I’m confident there will be a few additions along the way. Plus the following months are still open. I could see them heading up the East Coast and hitting a few interior States to finish the US Tour in September. Have faith my friends, have faith.
“Come On You Mothers!!!!!”

March 14th, 2014 at 13:30@16-Englewood NJ is about 1-1/2 drive from CT. Leave your little bubble of a world.
March 14th, 2014 at 13:41@25
I don’t see Detroit. Do you have a different list?
March 14th, 2014 at 20:28@ 31 at Tracy
how about laying some tracks with Bob,or is it too much to ask ? lol You think we might see a Re-remastered and Remix for Perfect Strangers 30th Anniversary ? doesn’t hurt to dream folks!oh and I want to have that Wacken on DVD at some point!
cheers
March 14th, 2014 at 20:54TRACY – HAVE A VERY PURPLE BIRTHDAY………We will be traveling to Elgin, back in the Chicago area, if I wasn’t able to get off work or something changes its gonna be Biloxi for us too, have a great one…eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeooooooooowwwwww?!
March 14th, 2014 at 21:41@32. August 25th is a Monday!
March 15th, 2014 at 12:11SOME OF US have jobs and can not devote 3 hours travel time to go to a show. Especially the 1 1/2 hours of your estimate to getting home! (more like 2 1/2 for ME) And to be up by 4 AM the next morning for WORK.
Maybe your “LITTLE” world needs expanding as does this tour.
It is such a shame that this great band, one of the truly greatest bands of all time is reduced to this in the US. I can’t understand why the US does not embrace them. I was lucky enough to see them in Germany back in October and they are still as rocking as when I first saw them in 1985. I believe this could be the last time they play in the US because the band gets no reception here like they do in Europe and other parts of the world, and they know it. I will be at that show in NJ come August.
March 15th, 2014 at 14:19it’s quite unbelievable. Deep Purple is in west/east europe & also in australia & asia super popular. Why is it otherwise in the states? The new album “now what?!” reached in several european charts the number one position. All the concerts for a 7500 people-arena are rapidly sold out. However, go & see them even in those small arena’s, they play on their maximum power and the quality of their performance is reaching easily the fabulous mark II.
March 15th, 2014 at 15:05@ 32. I’m there!! You would think they would hit NYC. And they always sell out in CT (Bruce Payne, Glover) have a place in CT. Can’t wait….
March 15th, 2014 at 16:01I’ve read elsewhere on the net that most of the North American dates will be accompanied by an orchestra; anyone know if this is correct?
March 15th, 2014 at 23:10Joe @37 I agree totally, blame it on the Classic Rock Radio format, most people don’t know anything about DP except for Smoke On The Water………….its a shame but its their loss and quite possibly the last US tour……so if you can go you had better
March 16th, 2014 at 20:34STOFFER, it was a toss up between IL and MS for us. Both are the same distance (roughly 8 hour drive). Biloxi won out due to location. Total Casinoville and right down on the shores of the Bay and Gulf. Plus we haven’t been to Biloxi and Elgin is too similar to the last venue we saw them play at Ravinia which is near there. We already booked our stay. Changed from Hard Rock to The Palace which is 2 miles down the road overlooking the Bay and Marina. Hard Rock was way too pricey on the night of the show which is Friday. $299.00 was the cheapest for that night. $134.00 at the Palace. Plus the off weekend rates are only $80.00. Arriving on my B-Day the 26th and checking out on the 30th. I hope to make enough at the Poker Table to pay for the trip… Riiiiiiigggghhhhhhttttt.
!Ch-BeerZ?
March 16th, 2014 at 20:44@30 yup traffic is always bad there. Looking into train,,, if possible. AC would of been easier for me. 40 min drive.
March 17th, 2014 at 09:23@32 mike, I have no idea what you are inferring about “Leave your little bubble of a world”. ?? My stating that I am 1 1/2 hours from Englewood has no bearing on anything other than psyched they are in the area. I’ve traveled hundreds and thousands of miles to see meaningful gigs. The earth is my “bubble”, thank you…..
Peace,
March 17th, 2014 at 13:35Ted
Just what i was referring to when people said they could’nt afford the new Jon Lord Book!
March 18th, 2014 at 04:00Blackberry @ 40. I have not seen anything in the anouncements here in Southern California about an orchesta on this tour, and since they did it the last time they were here I doubt that they would do it again. I know that I am going to see them at the Orange County Fair and they have Blue Oyster Cult opening for them per the ads. For those bagging on playing the Fair Circut it is not like it used to be and the bands at the OC Fair play in what is known as the Pacific Ampitheatre and it was a full concert venue before the residential neighbors shut it down for noise. The Fair shows have to be over by a certain time however and they only use it for the Fair with the exception of a couple of shows once in a while. I have seen Purple play there before (not at the Fair) with BOC opening and Thin Lizzy was supposed to be the first opener but that never came to be (still have the stub w/Lizzy on it). Pre-shutdown I saw Dio blow Aerosmith out of the water when Holy Diver had just been released and they were an opening act, and then he did a record signing at Tower Records at one of the Orange County locations that night but I could not make it to that. Also saw Scorpions (The Zoo from the double live album recorded there), Skynard, Sammy H, CSN, Plant, The Firm, and I forget who else off the top of my head).
March 18th, 2014 at 16:39Tracy, I thought too that the Elgin gig has a similar vibe as Ravinia (2011) but its only 5 hrs from us and Ravinia was an awesome place so maybe the show will be just as good if not better. I am really looking forward to the new material, I just hope they don’t go into “greatest hits” mode just because they are back in the US…………………..better get on my reservations!
cheers
March 18th, 2014 at 22:07Velvet Lapel, any word on an internet presale password for the OC Fair gig? Thanks,Steve
March 19th, 2014 at 21:42@ 48, Steve. There is an OC Fair pre-sale password of “hush9” that will get you 2 tix but you have to buy a VIP Parking pass with it (Paid $145 for 2 w/the $30 pass) It started @ 10 this morning (3/19) and goes till Friday night (some other pre-sales start on Thursday, not sure the diff) I got row M center (row 23 from stage when you count the pit seats) and I was just checking to see what is there (6 pm) and they still come up in the same area as mine as well as some in the last row of the pit on the very outside near edge of stage (simi circle ampitheatre seating arangement, not just straight rows, but it would be like you were in the sixth row if it were). Pit are around $69 (170 for 2 w/parking). Sorry to take so long to reply, i just saw my post show up. Let us know what happens.
March 20th, 2014 at 01:15Velvet,I got tix this morning. Thanks for the password.I’m in Sec 3 row L seats 9-12.See you there maybe.Just to reiterate what Velvet was saying about playing the Fair. It’s become a pretty big deal out here.Everyone plays here from new artists/bands to the classic rock bands.Last time Purple was here in ’07 with BOC and Edgar Winter and it was a near sellout.Pac Amp holds around 7,000 I would guess.I might try to see them at Harrahs down near SD as well.
March 20th, 2014 at 17:04Steve, Excelent! I noticed that they had released a bunch of presale without the parking pass fiasco, were you able to buy w/o the parking? My seats are Sec 2, M, 13-14. I will try look you up before BOC takes the stage (probably have a Maiden or Y&T shirt on, my Purple shirt from Long Beach ’84 (85?) has shrunk a little too much). And thanx for bringing up Edgar Winter @ the ’07 show. I couldn’t remember for the life of me who took Lizzy’s place (too much clean livin in the 80’s). Now if I remember correctly didn’t Edgar come back out to jam during Smoke?
March 20th, 2014 at 19:17al @34;
I believe it is inevitable that PS will be re-mastered as they have done with all the rest. As for the Wacken gig, I’d rather see one of the later shows released where they added some more tunes from ‘Now What’.
Oddly enough though regarding your question about laying down some tracks, I just started jamming with a couple of guys 2 weeks ago. Don’t know yet what will develop. Probably just for fun. Been 6 years since I’ve jammed with anybody. Though, I did sit in for the drummer a couple of times with the Worship Group at our Church not long ago. That was cool. As a matter of fact, that’s where the 2 guys came from. Guitar and Bass. As it sits, we are staying a 3 piece. We will probably mix it up. Do some originals, rock covers and some Worship tunes. It’s just a hobby thing but who knows where it will go.
!Ch-BeerZ?
March 21st, 2014 at 14:33@40 I too noticed that in Elgin IL., Deep Purple would be playing with ‘The Orchestra (Former Members of ELO)’. It sounds to me like that is the name of the back-up band not “with an orchestra”, but with The Orchestra. At least that is way I understand it, hope that helps.
March 22nd, 2014 at 02:46Hey Velvet
March 22nd, 2014 at 22:38Yes, Edgar came out and blew some sax during SOTW.I dug it.Great crowd that night, they were into DP big time. I’ll be there with my wife in some form of a Purple shirt.Like you my PS and HOBL tees no longer fit!
Saw Purple and Edgar Winter at the Pacific. Very good show Edgar Winter kicked some serious arse. Everyone big has played at the Pacific Scorpions as well as Ozzy, Aerosmith GNR Sabbath, Dylan, and just about everybody else. Good venue not like it was in the glory years but if you aint figured why Deep Purple is not as big as they were way back when today is his Birthday. Happy Birthday to you know who.
April 14th, 2014 at 00:39Im sorry but…..Casino tour?For 50 crown?Who f.ckinhell do this??They should be change the menagement….Next year what?Pub tour?
