December 19th, 2013 at 18:04Good morning golden ones, good night golden ones, my golden ones, we are the golden ones…. and so on….and so on!
Starting a GH revolution!
My voice is a gift!
In german the word “Gift” stands for poison. That is exactly what it is. As much as I liked DP Mk3, but when GH tried to “overyell” DC, especially during live on stage acts, it sounded horrible. And I still have this feeling today. Let him play the bassguitar, but don’t have him sing.
Or let me have a smoke of what he takes during writing his diary.
To all of you: this is my personal oppinion, so don’t start whipping me!
Greetings, Lutz
Lutz, what are you on? Over the past 20 years Glenn has produced the best body of work of any member of Deep Purple And in my view the band itself.
try listening to some of the following albums
From now on
Addiction
Soul Mover
FUNK
Feel
His vocals are brilliant and he has still kept his voice and in his 60’s it is still spot on.
So what his tweets are a bit bar my. He has lived in LA for over thirty years what do you expect but it is the music that counts
Really look forward to his new album, get over your prejudices based on guys attitude over thirty years ago.
December 21st, 2013 at 20:53I totally agree with Iain @3. Glenn Hughes has put out some excellent solo albums in the past 20 years. Beyond that, his collaborations with Tony Iommi on 2 fantastic albums (DEP Sessions 96, and Fused), as well as with Voodoo Hill are great examples of what Glenn can do in the metal style. And of course there is his work on Black Country Communion.
Yes its true that Glenn did go over the top at times in Purple Mark III and IV, and his tweet messages are somewhat over-familiar, however there is no denying his musical talent, both on bass guitar and in voice are astounding. He is a very gifted singer-songwriter. In my estimation he is one of the best all round musicians ever to have been on Deep Purple’s roster.
I am really looking forward to hearing more news about this new group of his….from what I have read, and the hints he has dropped already, the drummer is Jason Bonham.
Let’s see how this all shapes up!
December 22nd, 2013 at 13:20I already ecpected a badshing og Glenn of sorts.
Although I HATE the yelling as well I agree with Iain.
When(…) Glenn stays away from the high pitched screams et all that he rules and sings every singer out of the water!!!

December 22nd, 2013 at 14:58@ 3 Iain,
I am on nothing right now. I am with you, that GH was, and still is very productve over the last couple of years. But I don’t share your view of DP being less productive, not that amount of new recordings maybe, but a lot of touring. And for your info: I know three Albums out of the list of five you mentioned, and this has nothing to do with prejudices, I just don’t like his singing. And it’s my right to say this.
If you read my last sentance this is my personal opinion. I have mine, you have yours.
Nevertheless, have a nice holiday season and a happy new year,

It’s a TRIO. Bonham, Hughes and SLASH!
December 24th, 2013 at 01:39Hi Lutz,
December 24th, 2013 at 08:31Of course you are entitled to your view, however, I am entitled to point out that I think you are wrong and missing out on some great music.
It also annoys me that there is so much negativity towards Glenn on this site, the bloke produces consistently great music and can still cut it live and has kept the legacy of DP mark 3 and 4 alive.
Now listening to Building the Machine a great album showing all the attributes that make Glenn a top solo artist with Rock, soul and funk.
@3 you re right about his singing over the top,and high pitched screaming and that self indulgence listen to me in Live concerts with Purple and solo,I think he is one of the reason of Ritchie Blackmore leaving Purple, but you cannot deny his talent and input in the rock music, his body of work the last 10-15 years has no match to every one.
but the story is that people or fans are lined up in two groups : they either hate him or love him!I am kind of in the middle:I cannot lsten to his coke induced screaming in live Purple concerts,He destroyed the songs.
cheers
December 24th, 2013 at 15:43@8 Tracy, @9 Iain,
Hello Gents,
we are more or less on the same sheet of music. Iain, I never questioned GH’s ability as songwriter, composer or bassplayer. It’s only his singing.
Tracy and Iain,
if “Zero the Hero” is correct, and Bonham-Hughes-Slash are the ones, I’ll be the last one to ignore this recording. I would be looking forward to it, take a close listening, and if considered OK (for me!), even add it to my collection.
Saying this, I’m gonna let you know in the thread and posts that for sure will be on this site, after this album is published!

I dont think it’s Slash, Slash is recording his third solo album with Miles Kennedy.
December 28th, 2013 at 16:05Kings of Chaos is a band of many whom are touring the world right now. SLASH, Hughes, and yes Miles. Maybe I’m wrong about Jason Bohnam. It’s probably Mat Sorum instead. Either way it’s an awesome threesome.
!Ch-BeerZ?
December 29th, 2013 at 01:00The guitarist is by all accounts is Andrew Watts a young American who sings and writes songs and Jason on drums, however, there is no official confirmation or band name yet. presume contracts have to be signed before any thing official.
January 6th, 2014 at 20:48sounds like it is a mix of Glenn style rock with plenty of funky and soulful influences.
Did not see this nice one before :
Glenn doing Phoenix Rising unplugged.
