Didi Zill’s book delayed
Publishing date for the second edition of Didi Zill’s photo book has been postponed until November 15. In the meantime, here’s an interview with the photographer himself (in German with English subtitles):
Thanks to Yvonne Osthausen and Lutz for the info.
can’t wait! 😀
October 7th, 2013 at 13:07Is Didi referring to the split of Mk II here or Mk IV ?
October 7th, 2013 at 15:22@2,
He is referring to MK2 since he states keeping in touch and Glover’s ‘Butterfly Ball’ after the fact.

October 8th, 2013 at 13:27I will have to grab this book when it comes out. The recent book by Colin Hart is a good read along with Martin Popoff’s book on back stage passes.

Jeff,
I took the time, read the questions, just listened to Didi’s answers disregarding the english subtitles. If I followed and understood it right, then he was talking about the Mk 2 split in 1973. Hearing him talk about crushing the drum kit at the end of the concert and the crowd demolating the venue, fits to their last concert in Japan the evening they split. At least that’s the way I understand it.
Hope this helps, greetings,
Lutz
October 9th, 2013 at 14:33@Lutz, you sure that wasn’t just their last show at the Budakon, rather than that Japanese tour? The confusion lies in the demolishing of the venue being their last show with that line-up. A conclusion leapt to by some, not by others.
October 10th, 2013 at 06:33And there is Footage of the Last MK II show at The Budokan from 1973. It has not circulated yet. There are clips of it on the ‘Deepest Purple’ CD/DVD Set. The DPAS has it. Will we ever get to see it???…?
October 11th, 2013 at 17:10Here is a Clip of it:

I am pretty sure, talking about the last Mk 2 concert on 29 June 1973 in Osaka, Japan. At the end of the concert Ian Paice kicked his drum kit around, and the crowd demolished the venue, at least all the seats, because the band did not come back on stage to play an encore.
This is the story I know about their last concert and the night they split.
If not so, please correct me.
Greetings, Lutz

For the past 38 years I’ve loved the Machine Head album and Deep Purple.
And for longer than I can remember I’ve wondered what amp or amps did Ritchie record machine head with. I’m a guitarist and that tone is thee tone of all tones.
Will you have any more pics of the recording session for machine head that would indicate the amps and gear Ritchie was using? Or could you say? I noticed in your video on the book you saw the amp in the hotel.
Please share?
Thank you !
