Made in Japan video teaser
Further news about the 40th anniversary Made in Japan: the package will include a new documentary on Mark 2 around that period, plus 20+ minutes of 8 mm silent footage shot in Tokyo on August 17, 1972, and synchronized with the audio track.
Thanks to Andrey Gusenkov for the info.
Well, this is good news indeed! Any video content of those concerts will be worth the admission only! Actually it’s hard to imagine what could be improved audio-wise. Unfortunately the original concerts were just a little bit over 80 minutes each, so they don’t make a nice compact 3-cd set. The Live in Japan 3-cd set had the encores from the first concert only, maybe the missing ones will be included this time. Is it going to be 6-cd + dvd this time, to include everything nicely?:-) Live in Japan was released twenty years ago, so in this case I wouldn’t call this greedy cash-in. Just for comparison, how many times the catalogues of The Doors and ELP have been re-released during the last 20 years?
September 29th, 2013 at 05:52Having grown up with this album from the age of 18 to actually see it will be surreal. Sure the quality will be average judging by the teaser but for me it will be the most exciting event in DP’s history for a long time. Cant wait. Just hope we see some of Blackmore’s stunning Stratocaster abuse!!!

September 30th, 2013 at 17:37Well let’s get it out before we are all deaf or dead already. I for one am getting weary of waiting for stuff that was recorded 30 or 40 years ago! (just watched the new Perfect Strangers DVD) The DPAS needs to let loose of that 1973 Last MK II Concert in Japan Footage as well. It would go nicely into this Documentary wouldn’t it Simon?
October 3rd, 2013 at 05:27All I can say is ” Can We Have Everything Louder Than Everything Else”
Can wait for this one.
October 3rd, 2013 at 21:08@12,
Simon said that the 1973 Last MK II Concert in Japan Footage was to be included in this release, though that was before UMG took over. I hope we still get that.
October 3rd, 2013 at 22:31– WHy isn’t Roger Glover handling the mixing?
October 4th, 2013 at 04:53@12
Last Mark II ’73 concert in Japan footage? Please expand on this!! This exists?
October 4th, 2013 at 15:04When the MIJ footage appeared (or was it when the first news of the 40th ann. MIJ edition surfaced) Simon Robinson explained that there is also footage from the Japan 73 tour, and that some of it was suposed to be included as extra material in the planned DVD cotaining the 72 ffotage synched with the audio. But that is all I know.
October 10th, 2013 at 22:21LOVE IT !!!!!!!!!!
October 22nd, 2013 at 19:53I don’t think the DPAS has rights to the Purple catalog, including the MKII footage anymore. Simon did a Great job!!
