Holy s?!t

Vincent Price promo video screenshot

Vincent Price has won Classic Rock Track of the Week spot, and by a landslide: it got 67.53% of the total votes. Tracii Guns’ League Of Gentlemen came in second place with 5.4%, Megadeth third with 2.88%, and David Bowie fourth with 2.82%.

Never underestimate the power of lingerie clad pole dancing nuns 😉

Thanks to Classic Rock for the info.

Where is Now What ?! in the states ? It is an insult to this great album not to be seen or heard from anywhere!
Vincent Price is grooving tune for all pole dancers!

I must admit this video is addicting. The three best parts: the nun, Gillan’s eyeballs, and Steve’s guitar solo. In that order. Oh, and did I mention the nun? Oh that’s right, I did.

Despite putting out a very strong album,,,,despite a great video…despite the positive critical and popular reception Now What?! is getting everywhere but you know where, Purple continues to be largely ignored. Sure they got a cover story on Classic Rock magazine, but that’s it that’s all. Look at the buzz that Sabbath is getting already and their album hasn’t even hit the shelves yet….they have already been on the covers of Guitar Magazine, MOJO, and got a big piece in the International Herald Tribune newspaper this past weekend.

Typical anti-Purple bias once again folks, largely at the hands of the US music media machine…..The album has been out over a month now and nary a peep in the U.S. music press…..nothing at all yet in Rollingstone magazine….surprise! surprise! This is why Purple will never ever get a fair shake at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. Who is or what is to blame this time….definitely not the band or their management or record company…these guys have been putting huge sweat equity into promoting the album this time…..I stand by my position…there is definitely an anti-Deep Purple bias in the music media, particularly in the USA.

outside the nun best part of this video is Gillan screaming with his tongue out of his mouth

Of course there is an anti-Purple bias in this country. Purple don’t use fake vocals, drum machines etc. They actually make their own music.

#6 Well of course. But this time they did a good job of promoting a good record. In the past, you could blame lackluster recordings or half butt promotional efforts.

This is not the case with Now What!? It has done well overseas because of these two factors. All you can do is your best…and I think the boys and management have done their part. Of course the failure to break in the states means I will be waiting a long time to see any of this stuff performed live in the states…

    Dangit.

Purple bias in the US……….OH hell yeah big time…..bit we should be used to it, we don’t have to like it but we’re not surprised by it.
@ 4 Ted, the station was WDLJ 97.5 FM, its a small independent station, typical “Classic Rock” format. Above and Beyond was the feature song for a bit titled Eric’s New Music Minute, a weekly segment with a new song from various artists, so it probably will not appear in their rotation. However their late afternoon DJ is a DP fan and plays songs from Perpendicular and Bananas often, and they do stream online.
    cheers

If Ian Gillian had a wife like Sharon Osbourne and a reality show on MTV, where he could mumble incoherently while making a complete spectacle of himself with his obnoxious kids, then the music industry in the USA might pay attention to Deep Purple. A couple of high profile controversies doesn’t hurt in th publicity realm either…Anybody hungery for bat meat?

Funny how videos can change ones take on a song. When I first heard ‘Vincent Price’, I wasn’t sure…. Then when I saw the video, I fell in love with it. The tongue and cheek approach to the ‘Damsel in Distress/Rocky Horror Picture Show/Mistress of the Dark’ appealed to me immensely. The lap dance didn’t harm either (now I understand why the boyz are so ‘stiff’ at the end). Oh yeah, wax figures…… All the proper ingredients for a ‘Rock & Roll’ video. ?urfect!

    Ch-BeerZ?!

#12 If Gillan had a wife like Sharon, he would’ve had a wife who’s the daughter of a very famous promotor 😉 Btw, about Sharon, you should read Bob Daisleys story. She really is a b…tch, to this day, and Ozzy is no better:-/ What a weird “family” they are, those Osbournes.

#14 Ozzy over rated…best Black Sabbath had R-Bow and DP members at the mike.
