The Moon Is Shining video

A new promo video of Blackmore’s Night track The Moon Is Shining (Somewhere Over The Sea) from the new album Dancer And The Moon:

Nice medieval shades, man! 😉

Dancer And The Moon will be released on June 11 via Frontiers Records.

Thanks to Gerrit Tijhof for the info.

Update: we’re getting reports that the video is not available in some countries, most notably Germany. Will they ever learn?

    Nice sunglasses Ritchie!

    Kev says:

Gorgeous guitar work in there. Effortless and restrained when needed yet so tasteful. Ritchie, oh Ritchie… I wish you had another vehicle to really indulge yourself rather than be a backing musician for your lovely other half. Not necessarily going back to DP or anything like that but maybe a solo album? I can wish…

This tune sounds like it came out of a bad 80’s movie!! Bring on the MONTAGE!!

I don’t know what bugged me more – the bad disco/pop drumming or how creepy RB looks!

Ohhhhh the band is falling!! Next time just press delete….

    Nice sarcasm. 😉

Wish Mr.B would lose the moustache, the sunglasses and the pixie/elf/gnome/hobbit boots….he used to look so much better(cool) as the ‘man in black’. 🙂

I like Blackmore’s Night but i really do hope he has one more rock album in him.

The goofy Druid cone head is too much for me. Even worse are the cheesy, cliche lyrics. Nice to see RB with a Strat. Sadly, his best days seem far behind. Long Live Deep Purple!

Look mummy! It’s Fleetwood Mac in silly costumes!!

Nice track, certainly more mainstream than most of the B.N. songs. Great to hear that old Blackmore sound.

    Reinder Dijkhuis says:

This is… competently done, I guess. But why do it at all?

I’ll Stick With the new Deep Purple Album.

    Paul Jacklin says:

Quite like it – but is there a reason why the moon features so heavily in BN songs?

  15. 15
    Roberto says:

I heard this song and this solo yet so many times in the past just because I have the previous Blackmore’s Night releases…

    Anthony says:

Its a little too ‘pop’ orientated for Blackmore’s Night, however that classic Ritchie sound and unique guitar style is worth it. I look forward to hearing the new album then I will make a judgement on the band. I love Ritchie’s irony with the sunglasses..classic

    @ #10

My thoughts exactly. It reminds me of what a Stevie Nicks and Ritchie Blackmore collaboration would sound like.

I tried watching a Blackmore’s Night concert video on Youtube after watching he video clip above and found myself fastforwarding to the parts where RB was playing his Strat. I can only handle the novelty of Blackmore’s Nights in small doses.

He can obviously still play well, but I want to see him smash his guitars and blow up his amps again. It’s too bad he burned his bridges with his former Purple bandmates. In a perfect world, Deep Purple would have both, Blackmore and Steve Morse together, sort of like the Yes Union collaboration from the early 1990’s.

“No! Not again !!!” That’s all I can think as I listen to this…thing. And it has nothing to do with personal likes or dislikes. I saw RB twice in the eighties, with DP, and I know by heart all he played since the beginning. And I really CANNOT listen this stuff, always the same, nothing special or new, it hurts so much! And that voice…
Why not composing for tv commercials? At least it would be something new…and shorter!!!
Lukily, the guys he used to play with …DEEP PURPLE…still can deliver some very good stuff!!!

Why the hate? It is RB’s life ..let him live and do what he always wanted to do… He gave fans some great music and now he does what he wants. I really like the new DP album…but the last few have been sub-standard…I found BN as a great sub until DP got off their butt and created something worth while..let it be and let go..RB is not coming back to rock…

    Prem says:

This is progressive renaissance music…thats why the coolers…Mebbe in a couple of years, we all can see Blackers progressively in shorts, coolers, those boots and the pointy hat. Candice in minis with her shawms along with plastic leaves around the mike. They will be promoting their new single…I am on the Moon (Somewhere on earth, Gillan is smiling)… Get real Ritchie…pick up that strat real soon and get out those blues tunes you have stored in your cellar, put together a real band and rock the house down…

    Alan says:

@14. I understand Ritchie’s mothers maiden name was Moon which may help to explain.

    Jetze says:

Nice, but the same old story since 1993! More refreshing is Deep Purple with “Now What!” Forza Deep Purple 🙂

It is not hate, far from it.

I listened to the album and it failed on me, sorry.

I agree, I have found myself enjoying BN music more the deep purple albums as of late. Now What ?! Has changed that but still like Blackmores venture . If you don’t like it don’t worry we can’t all be the same!
