NOW What?! conquers Germany
NOW What?! has seized the #1 spot in Germany, Deep Purple’s unofficial second home.
This is confirmed by Media Control, who says this is the seventh time Deep Purple hit the number one spot in Germany. (Seventh Heaven?)
In the UK, NOW What?! has reached #1 in the Rock & Metal Albums Top 40 dated May 11:
Let us just take a moment to congratulate the band – and earMUSIC – as we look forward to hearing as many of the new songs as possible on the upcoming tour.
Thanks to Nigel Young.
Wow!! What? Number 1 in Germany. Great success for a great album.
May 7th, 2013 at 09:46Straight to the point and well said: “we look forward to hearing as many of the new songs as possible on the upcoming tour.” ๐
May 7th, 2013 at 09:50Well deserved!! Now What?! is by far their best record in many, many, many years ๐ It’s surprisingly GREAT even by Purple standards ๐
May 7th, 2013 at 10:48This is an EXCEPTIONAL album. Intelligent, sophisticated, modern progressive. No dumb hammering as in Abandon. Certainly the best after 1996. And…..at moments reminds of mark 1 :))) [take Hell to pay for eg] maybe because Ian’s voice deflated down to Rod’s…..but this is not a downside!!! Good clever work!
May 7th, 2013 at 11:13Congratulations! Hope the album will stay in the charts for a while. I also hope, that the endless “Machine Head Tour” is over now and they perform the fantasic new material in future concerts.
May 7th, 2013 at 12:03No more excuses.
May 7th, 2013 at 14:15Play more than 4 or 6 tracks this time!!!
Yeah – -thats the right position for the best album since 8 years ๐
oh no – I mean: since 1972 ๐

May 7th, 2013 at 14:31Number 4 in Norway (week 18), and that chart list is not a pure rock and metal chart list, but an overall top 40 album chart list also including artists and bands from pop, dance, rap, electronica, rnb genre. 4th is fantastic, its much better than I expected.
May 7th, 2013 at 15:20Deserved! Plenty of promotion of course has helped. Only thing that bugs me is the band name on the deluxe edition sleeve seems to have been an after thought and stuck on, not printed on or did the printers screw it up? ๐
May 7th, 2013 at 15:51And # 3 in Russia. Don’t know if Russia is a big market for cds and such..?
May 7th, 2013 at 16:09NW went to # 1 in Czech Republic too, as I understand it. ๐
May 7th, 2013 at 16:38Have to say I’m embarrassed at it’s placing here in Ireland – 87!!! I guess I’ll have to travel to the UK to catch them on this tour. 87 – Jesus!
May 7th, 2013 at 20:31…oh yes it`s beautiful…
It`s so wunderful, that Deep ?urp!e have such a sucess with “Now what?!”
May 8th, 2013 at 10:03Their previous six German chart-topping albums were In Rock, Fireball, Machine Head, Made In Japan, Burn and The House Of Blue Light. They’ve only managed the number one spot three times in Britain – with Fireball, Machine Head and… Deepest Purple.

May 8th, 2013 at 20:31Today, a local German newspaper has a report on the writing sessions for “Now What?!”, which took place in the small town of Werne:

@14 You could count In Rock as a number one too really, in the UK. Sitting high in the charts for well over one year.
Didn’t Purple Rainbows reach number 1 in the UK compilations chart in the early 90’s… ๐
May 9th, 2013 at 10:14Blackmore’s Night album will probably do well as well in Germany.
Why not make a double bill and let Ritchie jump in for Steve during some moments? : )
May 9th, 2013 at 11:59And only 4000 copies for a 118 position here in the States. I wonder how many of us impatient fans bought the Import with all the extra’s/DVD and this wouldn’t show in the US numbers….either way It’s just awful here for these LEGENDARY artists.
May 9th, 2013 at 17:39@18… This is why whatever you say, I cannot take seriously!! Are you really being serious here…?! Geeeezzzz….
May 10th, 2013 at 18:5820
When you follow me around here it is not that hard to feel when I m serious or not.
Then again, this one is a bit double, maybe tongue in cheek.
Ridicilous but also……why not?
Saying in general I m taking the piss based on a comment like this is a bit easy, dontya think?
May 12th, 2013 at 09:44Priest, I get you man…. You are consistently playing the ( /*\ ), and you wear that ;} well……
