Blackmor’s Night are doing their short annual tour in the US, and on October 27 Ritchie Blackmore and Candice Night were interviewed (undoubtedly, via carrier pigeons and smoke signals) by their local Long Island’s WRCN:

Nice to hear Ritchie and Coverdale are actually on speaking terms! My dreams of a Mk III reunion have gone but I’d still love to hear Ritchie and David do something together again.

October 31st, 2012 at 01:41As stated regarding the RRHOF…..Exposure, exposure, exposure. Publicity, publicity, publicity. There is no such thing as ‘bad publicity’ in the entertainment biz. Ritchie and Co. have obviously figured that out. ‘Never before’ has TMIB been as accessible to the media as he has become with Blackmore’ Night. And guess what…..it’s working. His little lute band is getting much more ‘present time’ accolades than Purple. Why? Proper promotion and management, and most of all….cooperation from the Band and its main player. It’s like a total reversal. TMIB was always the ‘no show’ out of the spotlight, inaccessible character which in part has a lot to do with Purple’s unfortunate obscurity, under the radar existence. Now with BN he has come out of his little dungeon and become quite visible, accessible and even vocal. Including on stage where he Never Before spoke a word. Go figure….
On that note regarding my favorite ‘Living Guitarist’….I now concern this next bit regarding my favorite ‘Non-living Guitarist’, the late great Gary Moore. They have recently released a DVD/CD that all of you must acquire. It is a concert tribute to Jimi Hendrix from back in 2007 called “Blues for Jimi”. This is without a doubt one of the finest performances (if the finest) he has done. He masters honing in and emulating Jimi’s songs but with also spinning in his own style of the craft in one of the most memorable performance I have seen and heard. He is even joined on stage by Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox for 3 songs. Please do yourselves a favor and get this. I can’t stop playing it. Close your eyes and crank it. It’s a ghostly experience. In one moment you are convinced Jimi is playing and in the next it’s Gary and in the next it’s both together. Quite eerie and totally incredible.

Ok back to Ritchie…its great to hear he’s on speaking terms with most of the Purple and ex-Purple guys though. The guy sounds happy and content and thats all that matters.
November 1st, 2012 at 08:00@ Anthony he is just in good terms with the former Purple guys like Coverdale and Hughes and the late Jon Lord not the actual line up Deep Purple! “Good term” is a relative thing with the man in black since he is known to be a solitary and always disconnected to the other band members .

November 2nd, 2012 at 01:30He doesn’t remember everything, it was in fact Jon who had the tape of Coverdale, he told the story more than once about how he approached him at a gig Coverdale opened for Purple early in mkII days, and then remembered he had given him his number and everything, in case ‘the new guy’ didn’t work out. Or maybe Jon was way wrong. 🙂
I call bull on the mention of the anniversary versions solos, but it’s an interview so I understand his lack of direction there. But the other day?
Glad to hear about Dogie and Greg, it says it all in the grand scheme of things since then concerning Doogie especially. Cool to hear that ‘inside’ story! My kind of stuff as long as it’s not too inflammatory, just truth worth hearing is all it is. But I see she is still his best publicist ever, ha ha, thanks to her for that, really!
Who’s going to guess why Ritchie really would be on the phone with David?

One more little gripe about forgetting: Ritchie you layed Stargazer on stage many times, or I’ve been hearing and seeing fakes all these years, and my money has even been robbed, ha ha. How these things go unnoticed I’ll never know, but they stand out like a sore thumb to me.(no biggie, but…)

… with some unpleasant hard realities about (… a couple of band members… not the keyboard player and not the drummer…) about money and contracts … 🙁
I don´t know, whoever they mean, but if you remember, there were also a Bass Player and a Singer …
And not long ago, Candice tell the same story until an other interview, the bass player disclaimed this story.
And now the singer disclaimed this (his) part of that interview.
And special: No commend from the others (the drummer and the keyboarder) !!!
