Blackmore on Rock’N’Roll HoF
Billboard has a quote from Ritchie Blackmore regarding Deep Purple’s nomination into the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame:
Personally, I couldn’t care less. I would never go. I’m not really a fan of that stuff. Considering some of the people that are in the Hall of Fame, I’m not sure if it’s a good idea, so I don’t care one way or the other, actually.
I think our fans seem to care more than I do. They’re always saying, ‘You should be in the Hall of Fame. You should be in this, you should be in that…’ If I can pay the bills, that’s all I care about.
So there you have it.
Thanks to BraveWords for the info.
Well, one can argue, how strange this man and his attitudes are, but this time… bravo!
October 13th, 2012 at 17:04The man in black is correct again
October 13th, 2012 at 18:00This is Ritchie Blackmore!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 13th, 2012 at 18:15As it should be…do what you need to do Ritchie. Sadly Gillan lost his spark years ago, not even Iommi could get it out of him!
October 13th, 2012 at 18:35Well for those whom hate capitolizm….(Priest), TMIB hit it on the head for you. Last line…”You should be in this, you should be in that…’ If I can pay the bills, that’s all I care about.”
He and Purple could have paid the bills a little better if they didn’t snub the puplic eye all those years.

October 13th, 2012 at 20:29amen to that Ritchie! you tell em !
October 13th, 2012 at 21:14Cheers ritchie couldn’t care less myself , R.R.HOF. is a complete joke, look at were it is even located (Cleveland) Ohio, ha, ha, not to affend anyone living there, but really …….Cleveland?
October 13th, 2012 at 21:39Fair comment Tracey. DP could have/should have been the biggest.
October 13th, 2012 at 22:31Whenever The Man talks, it´s just soooo to the point! 15 years of BN. Even the great Johnny Winter does what he does the best. So….what about a rock-CD for a change, Mr. Blackmore? Please, make Your statement, make it loud. We have waited for it long enough, I guess. Cheers!
October 14th, 2012 at 07:19R´nRHoF is for media, not the real rockers !
October 14th, 2012 at 10:17Oh yeah, our Ritchie Blackmore … HE IS T H E GUY WHO HAS HIS PLACE in the RnR HoF since: 1971 – since: IN ROCK, lately since 1972 – Smoke on the Water.
He is THE MONUMENT of ROCK (´N´Roll – if you will).
All that mock “RnR” shit from guys like THE TEMPTAITIONS, THE SUPREMES, SIMON & GARFUNKEL or other groups from the RnR HoF like that (nothing against their music and this musicians/groups), are no RnR groups.
It´s been since 1986 that the RnR HoF has “nominated” a lot of “R O C K” (´N´Roll) bands …
But T H E R O C K -Band who ARE Rock-Bands are not so many there …
I am in common with our friends in Purple and related in their meaning, that this NOMINATION is very very un-important !!!!!!

October 14th, 2012 at 10:55I think SOTW will pay their bills till the end of times!
October 14th, 2012 at 12:32The electric bill has to be paid or the lights go out. Bravo for RB as a straight shooter.
October 14th, 2012 at 13:35Deep Purple aren’t in already?!! What a joke.
October 14th, 2012 at 19:19I think “byron” has hit the nail on the head, in that royalties from SOTW & other DP music that Ritchie was involved in making all those years ago must surely still go to him to help pay his bills! In some ways, I don’t think that HOFs mean that much in all honesty, for example, they do it in the WWE as well and it’s little more than a back-slapping exercise in many cases there, but on the other side of the coin, it is a form of recognition by the media & the public for past achievements of that artist & in Ritchie’s case, he was part of one of the world’s top rock bands when they were at their absolute peak & he deserves that bit of recognition – and so does Steve Morse, who’s been in the band longer than Blackers! It only happens once anyway, so whatever one’s thoughts on the topic, what the heck, make the most of it & enjoy the night!
October 14th, 2012 at 21:05I couldn’t agree more with Blackers!
October 15th, 2012 at 07:20Blackers is still pissed out about Frank Sinatra not knowing who the fuck he was all those years ago!
October 15th, 2012 at 08:04Straight on the money, Blacker! Amen to that, TR&RHoF is a political joke.
Peace,
Ted
October 15th, 2012 at 14:05He he he…Blackmore is always Blackmore.
October 15th, 2012 at 15:17Ritchie….paying your bills? Please…..your fans made you a multi-millionaire….do something for them…..pay them back for 45 years of adoration…go to the Hall of Fame and play with Gillan, Glover, and Paice one last time. Thats my 2 cents.
October 16th, 2012 at 13:25The fact that Rainbow isn’t in makes this an even bigger joke. Ritchie has written some of the greatest riifs in the history of rock n roll and for Purple and Rainbow to both be snubbed for this long I’m with Ritchie, the hell with em!
October 16th, 2012 at 17:11Is the Rock and Roll HOF a joke? Yes. Should they go to the induction ceremony and use this as an opportunity to introduce people to their music. Absolutely yes. DP is the best band in rock history and the worst managed most self destructive group ever….
October 17th, 2012 at 01:41I bet he would feel differently if the RRHOF was in London. Just saying…
October 17th, 2012 at 04:06Put down the lute and pick up the strat!
October 17th, 2012 at 15:04My strong feeling is Purple make it….MK I, II and III only ( MK II for sure). Band plays sans Blackmore.
October 17th, 2012 at 23:28America should be ashamed for letting The R and R Hall Of Fame make this good idea a travesty.
I think we should start from scatch again to aim for integrity this time.
October 18th, 2012 at 21:10The world needs more human beings like Blackmore.
I like him a lot.
October 19th, 2012 at 19:50I respect what Ritchie has to say…however, it doesn’t appear his camp and he are on the same page, as I got an e-mail from the Official Ritchie Blackmore (Blackmore’s Night) website urging me to go “vote” for DP’s nomination.
October 19th, 2012 at 20:59Hey Priest…
Maybe your country should try a shot at it since America messed it up as you state. Run it by your superiors or whatever you call them there. Can’t wait for that to happen. Will be done right I’m sure.

I dont know what you re one but I did NOT mention/suggest a link between the state of my country and the influence of the States.
In the last few weeks I felt it sometimes is the other way round.
My country seems to export loads of terrible dj’s for the ” house-scene” .
Nothing more disgusting than that shit.
Rotterdam did have a great part in that as well.
Yesterday I saw one of the leading persons that led the house scene from here.In a tub at my gym.
A pity I could not drown the man.
That, ofcourse, would not have been understood or approved of.
Bizarre, always that Nationalistic part in your posts, man.

October 20th, 2012 at 21:03If Sabbath is in the HOF then Purple should be as well. Sabbath played before Purple at Cal Jam it just makes sense that Purple should be inducted since they were the Headliners. But do we really care?
October 21st, 2012 at 03:46I misread, not you.
Sorry(….)
October 21st, 2012 at 19:11Black Sabbath, espescially when guided by Sharon have given up trying to be sincere.
DP still wants to be sincere.
But as I said, real sincerity would have been leaving behind the setlists with mainly MK 2 material.
So, I d say they are a split personality band.
October 22nd, 2012 at 10:02Nationalistic Priest? Who me? Come on. Nobody makes as many remarks regarding various nations than you. Whether it be that us Americans are less refined and don’t appreciate ‘Mozart’ as much as Europeans or what not. You constantly point the little finger at who is more capitalistic. Just as the statement you made in which I responded to @ 27…..”America should be ashamed for letting The R and R Hall Of Fame make this good idea a travesty.” ……Why should America be ashamed? It’s not an American policy. It’s a money making political popularity contest contrived by music moguls and the entertainment business. And here you go blaming America. Like I stated as a response….run it by your heads of State and take a proper crack at it. Good or bad, at least somebody is doing it. Yeah it’s far from perfect and aside from entertainment sake a non-important event. But then, isn’t most of it anyway? Enjoy what it is or don’t. Hell, not too long ago I believe it was forbidden that you even got a chance to witness such an event in your land. Now you have it and what do you do with it? Whine……So again, who is the Nationalist????

October 30th, 2012 at 16:44To quote Ronnie James Dio (R.I.P.) from a few years back about Blackmores Night – “He’s wasting his time. His wife is leading him around by the nose. It’s all about getting her a career. That’s my opinion.” Well said,Ronnie. She is Candice “Yoko” Night. And her real name is Candice Isralow from Long Island. Her and her mother Carole Stevens are only after the money.
January 5th, 2013 at 05:34If Sabbath is in R&R HOF, then Purple surely should be…and it should be ‘rock’ acts, not country, disco, pop etc that get in- otherwise, why call it R & R HOF ?
Perhaps, rename it “Music Hall of Fame”, if anybody is able to get in….Randy Newman is good for his genre, but he is not Rock…..nor is Donna Summer for goodness sakes…..
Also Rainbow should be in…..
March 24th, 2013 at 01:31Yeah!!! Blackmore has integrity.. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is nothing but a load of rubbish!!! People who has nothing to do with Rock and Roll is there!!! So that made the RRHOF a bloody joke!! You can’t take it seriously!!! A bloody and lame joke!!! It sucks!!!
November 22nd, 2013 at 00:58Rainbow’s Stranger In Us All is an awesome álbum!!!! Love it!!! Greetings from Aguascalientes, Mexico!! Blackmore and Purple forever!!!
November 22nd, 2013 at 01:00to CB you really don’t know RB. I do personally. Candice and Ritchie are one of the nicest couples around. They truly love each other and their children are simply adorable.and to say Candice is that Yoko of deep purple is completely asinine.it is obvious that you are not a fan of Blackmore’s night that’s fine I’m sure there are other bands that you like that I or others would love to kill ourselfs then to listen to them. and as for Carol Stevens being RB manager she has done absolutely a fantastic job of getting richie what he deserves they are not after his money be real !!!! Candice had her own career in radio after meeting richie at a soccer game on Long Island they spent all night together talking and finding common interests is it so difficult to think that they can be a beautiful loving couple???if you don’t like Blackmores Night don’t listen to the band if you like Deep purple listen to deep purple. but please don’t be bashing Candice and or Carol Stevens you really don’t have the full history and full story of all the behind the scenes what actually happened with Deep Purple. and really you went way off topic about the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame it should be called Music Hall of Fame that’s really the topic here.and to end my little rant I agree wholeheartedly with richie as long as the bills can get paid what else matters ?? there will always be fans of the deep purple era when richie was in it. It will be fans of the era that Steve Morse as played lead guitar there will always be fans of
March 11th, 2014 at 13:31rainbow and fans of Blackmore’s night. If you have ever gone to blackmore’s night concert you would actually see that there are a lot of fans and the chemistry of richie and Candice on stage along with the fun banter between the other band mates are absolutely great when richie does rock out it’s great when he plays a ballard it’s great. what I’m asking is just to be a fan of the man and all his talents that he is brought to the music industry
Black Sabbath, espescially when guided by Sharon have given up trying to be sincere.
