Bourée in Palermo
On September 7 Ian Paice hosted a tribute to his brother in law and in arms, the late great Jon Lord. The concert took place in Palermo, Italy, where he performed with the student orchestra of Conservatorio Vincenzo Bellini conducted by Alberto Maniaci.
This could very well be the first time he have performed Jon’s Bourée:
There’s more where it came from.
Speaking if Paicey, last week he was on the Classic Rock Radio discussing the upcoming Sunflower jam and the new Deep Purple album. The interview is now available for online replay (MP3, 42MB).
Thanks to Federica1401 for the video and Yvonne Osthausen for the info.
WOW!!! what a great interview I loved it…I am so pumped up for the new album, if it takes till March or April it sounds like it will be soooo worth the wait. Ian says ” do you want to become famous or do something you enjoy”? obviously they are all doing what they enjoy that is why they are still around and still relevant, 6 – 7 minute songs… harder than they even thought… WOW I CAN”T WAIT…
cheers
btw: Ian and especially Jackie, you should be very proud of yourselves, I’m just a DP fan and I am very proud of you, we know you do not do this event for praise but you should feel very good about what you are doing to help, the interview makes me wish I lived there and could attend : )
September 20th, 2012 at 23:06Please listen to that ‘Burn’ version (same gig)…Ian Paice is astonishing….He seems to get better with ages…I will never understand people saying Bonham or Peart are better drummers…My ears and my eyes say that without any doubt He was and is the best rock drummers ever…

Roberto, all drummers are different in their technique & we like a certain drummer for different reasons. Ian Paice is one of Great Britain’s finest rock drummers along with Bonham, Baker, Palmer, Bruford, Barlow, Phillips etc, etc! Neil Peart from the other side of the pond, is awesome as well. There are many others I have not mentioned. I am influenced by them all in some way, it is a matter of personal taste! Cheers.
