Machine Head radio show
Update (Apr 7): It appears that the show is not a new production, but will be a rebroadcast of the 15th anniversary show aired in 1987. (thanks to Nigel Young for spotting this)
Syndicated US radio show In The Studio is producing a 40th anniversary Machine Head special. Roger Glover and Ian Gillan were interviewed for the show. The program will air during the week starting April 16th on many stations across North America and will be available online from their website for your worldwide listening pleasure.
What’s next?
April 3rd, 2012 at 22:46Another Machine Head Anniversary Tour?
I hope no Machine Head tour ? They play 5 songs again and again. Somentimes also Maybe I am Leo or When a blind man cries. They’ve played every song from this album yet. Yes it is classic album but I will be happy if they played more song from WDWTWA or HOB.
April 4th, 2012 at 12:31It’s a repeat of the 15th anniversary In The Studio with Redbeard from 1987, later circulated on CD around other stations. The CD reads ‘Show Number 9 Artist Deep Purple “Machine Head” Air Week of August 22, 1988’ (listen for the clumsy edit of ‘Fth’ in Roger’s closing piece in the trailer at http://www.inthestudio.net/in-the-studio-upcoming-shows/deep-purple-machine-head-40th-anniversary/).
April 6th, 2012 at 06:45Nigel nailed it. It’s a repeat show under the umbrella of the 40th anniversary. The clumsy edit is quite obvious in Rogers piece at the end.
April 7th, 2012 at 16:01Listening to the trailer, it is obvious that the ordinal number has been edited out. This can only lead to one conclusion: This is a deliberate attempt to deceive.
On the other hand, many people have not heard this broadcast and a new generation of fans might be interested in the 1987 show. Since there is no shame in a re-broadcast, the trailer should have been more straightforward.
At the very least, Purple is recognized for their milestone album.
April 8th, 2012 at 04:31Redbeard didn’t do himself any favours with his previews. Some of Roger’s input was new (or unused from ’87) – the Rickenbacker story and the Lake Geneva story.
April 20th, 2012 at 10:51I think 2013 is worth a PURPENDICULAR Anniversary year.
This YT is new to me.

April 27th, 2012 at 20:50I suppose I slipped twice.
First of all, I suddenly recall seeing it before.
More importantly, 1996 was release year, or was it 1995?, 25 years later would have been appropriate……
Damn, that was 2011……
Oh yeah right, I bought that lame reissue not a long time ago.
Very basic, so I was very dissappointed.
I wish I hunted down a copy of Rainbow’s picture disc, only sold at Record Store Day, last weekend.
I get different information on where it was sold.
Fingers crossed, that a friend of mine can get his hands on a copy for me as a late Birthday gift : )
