“Freeze Yer Ass” tour 2012
Deep Purple’s management has announced a massive Canadian tour in 2012. The tour will start on February 2 in St.John’s, Newfoundland, and finish on February 26 in Vancouver, BC. They will play 17 dates in every major (and some minor) city of the country apart from Montreal and Quebec City, where the band has performed last summer on the orchestral tour.
Full details in our calendar. These will be updated once we get ticket info.
Massey Hall in Toronto is a great place to see Purple. They last played there on Feb 26th,2004 on the Machine Head/Bananas tour.
November 25th, 2011 at 01:11The venerable, old theatre only seats about 2700,so,the Feb 12th,2012 show is sure to be sold out.
Yessssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 25th, 2011 at 03:49Nice one, Wolf, can’t wait to rock on up!

November 25th, 2011 at 06:34This is the best Christmas gift a Newfie could ask for. C’MON!!!
November 25th, 2011 at 08:22Seasonally Geographically Challenged. Maybe management thought they were in the Southern Hemisphere. I hope they stay safe & the Canucks enjoy the shows. However, WHERE is the time to work on the new album?
November 25th, 2011 at 10:18I’ve never seen a hard rock band touring with such intensity as Deep Purple!!! I admire their guts in that department, but I really hope they’ll find the time to finish up the new record asap:-) Thank you Purple….for all the truly great years!!!
November 25th, 2011 at 11:29This is by far the most in-depth tour of Canada yet. Freeze is a under statement. I have been to Winnipeg in Feb. Being from the South..living in Florida and Georgia even with the heavy winter gear I had. I nearly died. 😉
November 25th, 2011 at 14:45Hopefully they came back and finish up the States. Back in ’07 they played 1 in Georgia.. 3 shows in Florida. 3 in Texas. 6 in the mid-West. Plus 2 in the SE. Wishful thinking?
With Paicey saiding they had finished the new album just waiting on Ian to do his part…well do the math…touring the UK and Europe as I type this. Then his solo tour in Jan. Canada in Feb. Think he will do it?
This is the first time time they have toured Canada only. With the success that Nazareth has had their can’t blame them.Anyone going?
Here they go again….
November 25th, 2011 at 14:56Why not call it ‘Kiss My Ass Tour’ to all the fans expecting a new studio album??!!!
So when might they get to a new album? They’ll be too tired to write anything productive given the schedule.
November 25th, 2011 at 19:07Christmas is coming a little early this year!!!
November 25th, 2011 at 19:25Can’t wait to see the the boys again in Edmonton!!!
Looks like I’m going to hit the Vancouver show, just north of Seattle. Still waiting for them to come back to the States. Had a great time seeing their last 3 shows this June here in the States. Please mix up the set list. We want to hear Ted, Sometimes, Child In Time and more ubscure stuff from House Of Blue Light, and Perfect Strangers. Hard Loving Man was great suprise this last tour. Also no other musicians, just the 5 of you. PLEASE PLEASE 1 more heavy rock sounding album, no comercial stuff, Abandon, Bananas, and Rapture have not hit the button. More like Perpendicular.
November 25th, 2011 at 23:02Pumped to see them in Halifax!
November 26th, 2011 at 08:56and people say why Gillan lost his voice….
November 26th, 2011 at 12:29hope in this tour they will come to Israel too =]
November 26th, 2011 at 14:36What about..”New album….??? When hell freezes over tour”…!!!!! 😉
November 26th, 2011 at 16:27Hey, maybe they’ll record the new album while on stage. :>)
November 26th, 2011 at 17:38Or better yet, how about they don’t ever get around to it until they’re damned good and ready… just so enough criminals can download it for free and burn out on it in five months, as that is how the last one went, and they know it, so the buggers can keep up the good work, yeah, that’s how it’s done!
@14 Huh? The concert footage since the orchestra and after do not show evidence of this, it shows a strong fighting man doing very well for his age. He has been in much worse shape in recent years, why the jab? I mean can’t they get over to within 300 miles of me since 2000f’ing 4 or what? I recall they were just in Italy and you didn’t even have to leave the country to see them Roberto. This close and I still need a passport. Man alive!
November 27th, 2011 at 12:37@13 Roberto.I agree with Larry( #17) .For the most part, Gillan is in good voice lately.
November 27th, 2011 at 16:54I saw an orchestra show in June, and his only truly painful moments came in Space Truckin’.
I did notice that Woman from Tokyo,Knockin’ @ Your Backdoor and Perfect Strangers were all tuned down at least one full step,no doubt because Ian now struggles with the original keys,So be it;no disrespect to the man. Pick up Montreux 2011 and see/hear for yourself. It’s a great show, miles ahead of the lethargic performance of Montreux 2006.
@17 – @18 I was just referring to his perfomance during the last years in general…I think Ian could have sang better without touring so much…The Deep Purple 2012 tour schedule is really hard to face for any singer despite his age…that’s all…
November 27th, 2011 at 20:12New album? Yea, another live one with the same songs we’ve heard for the last decade. Greedy, they make more on tour than album sales. I remember the days of 2 albums a year plus extensive touring. They continue to play 95% Blackmore era songs. The Freeze Your Ass Tour will be the same as tours in the past. With them in their mid 60’s, I’m afraid that health reasons will take over. New album? Deep Purple just has us on a lifter. We will never see it.
November 27th, 2011 at 20:53Awesome that they’re coming to Edmonton, hope Gillian is at the top of his game for the show
November 29th, 2011 at 01:15Hope tp see DP in Israel again.
November 29th, 2011 at 09:38Last gig in Cesaria was amazing!
Dont’t be too harsh Maybe I’m a Leo : )
3 Morse songs plus 1 cover by South and 1 cover of Green Onions, that’s not 95% Blackmoresongs.
And Gillan wrote NO ONE CAME?
November 29th, 2011 at 10:11Well, Going Down makes 3 covers.
That plus the riff parade ……uhhhhhhhhhh
I d do riffs like Rat Bat Blue instead, but am I ?”: )
Am I the only one who misses “Ted”?
December 12th, 2011 at 11:30So no orchestra for the Canadian Tour 2012, right? Can someone answer?
January 12th, 2012 at 22:22I just hope they come back and finish up the States. 10 shows in the NE amd 3 on the west coast last year. I saw them in Vegas. Ian’s voice sounded better than it has in ages. The band played better than when I last saw them in ’07. There are a lot of places they could play and do well here. Savannah Ga. Macon Ga. Pensacola FL. Memphis Tenn, Biloxi Miss. Portland Or, Billing Montana. The list is endless. They will have played 20 shows in Canada in less then 9 months. 13 here. Sign of the times. Nazerath has been doing Canadian only tours for the past few years. Go where your wanted and can sell tickets. Maybe I’m A Leo, I think I met you in vegas. You showed me photos of you and your wife with DP taken in Seattle in ’02 I believe the last i saw of you,was when you were buying T-shirts. Larry R. Toering I hope to see you in Vancouver. Break-out the Passport.
January 13th, 2012 at 14:01Why, why, why would you not play Montreal again? It makes NO sense not to. NONE. =__= GAAAAH!!!
January 19th, 2012 at 02:57I caught the Edmonton, Alberta show and it was frickin’ great!!
March 6th, 2012 at 05:38The lights were bright, the band was tight and the singer was right,
there was Smoke and Fire in the Sky!!
They rocked the building even though only 3500 fans showed.
An awesome show by an awesome band.
