Jon Lord releases orchestral live album
After some months of preparation, Jon Lord has released a new live album titled simply LIVE. Listen to the exclusive teaser below.
Recorded in Bucharest, Romania in 2009 with a full symphony orchestra, the album includes a selection of orchestral pieces that represent Jon Lord’s touring repetoire since leaving Deep Purple in 2002.
The album includes three completely reworked Deep Purple classics with full orchestral arrangement by Jon Lord; Pictures of Home, Soldier of Fortune and an immense Child in Time.
Also featured are Pictured Within (voted everybody’s no. 1 favourite Jon Lord track on JonLord.org); The Telemann Experiment; two pieces from the Sarabande Suite and the female voice delights Wait a While and The Sun Will Shine Again.
Steve Balsamo and Kasia Laska handle vocals throughout. The Rousse Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Nayden Tadorov with Darin Vasilev (guitar), Ivaylo Zvezdomirov (bass) and Venko Poromanski (drums) completing the line-up.

Animo maestro, todo saldrá bien. un fuerte abrazo. te deseo lo mejor
August 14th, 2011 at 20:59Superb as always ! However I MUST ask, will there be a DVD of this show as it WAS filmed professionally by Romainian television?
August 14th, 2011 at 23:33I ve not heard it yet but…
Was the 2010 setlist not more interesting?
I mean, it included his last album.
I will cherish the recodings anyway, although I m not very fond of the singers.
August 15th, 2011 at 17:12I gotta get my hands on this…….Goose bumps.
August 15th, 2011 at 17:39I want this NOW!!!!
August 15th, 2011 at 18:18Knowing what Jon is going through right now, it is difficult to wach it without being sad. I cross all fingers and toes I can and wish the Master of Music all the VERY VERY best. I hope we alle will see him soon again.
PS. Great to hear Child in Time again. Maybe the best Purple track ever.
seeing the MASTER of the Hammond like that and being part of my life since the last 40 years I only have one thing in mind…. how is our favorite keyboard player? is he going thru intense therapy and how is he coping? if anyone got news please let us know!
August 16th, 2011 at 03:12all the best Jon and please, please “wait a while before you go”.
Ronnie, Tommy, Gary and the late rockers manage very well without you up there, so don’t go so soon and stay here with us. thank u,
long live Jon and long live the DP family.
richard.
@ 2: I’m not sure but I think you’ll find that “filmed professionally” and “Romanian Television” in the same sentence is an oxymoron…?
I might actually buy this…
August 16th, 2011 at 17:39This will be a nice add to my DP family collection…
August 16th, 2011 at 17:59Got my copy today. Listening to it now. Exciting to hear Jon and a great set list:-)
August 16th, 2011 at 19:43@7 : Well you say that but the 5 clips on the dailymotion.com web-site look just fine to me, hence my interest !
August 17th, 2011 at 10:16Hopefully this isn’t a sign of the closing of another chapter in Purpledom. Sudden releases of live shows like this, along with doing the studio version of the ‘Concerto’ feels like some finality of sorts.
I will be buying this one, but my gut says he may be gone before I get to listen to it. Hope the hell I’m wrong….
Cheers
August 20th, 2011 at 06:41@3 If you mean To Notice Such Things then no, this has not been performed live on a regular basis, only at a few select occasions such as Liverpool (with the original album musicians), Nuthurst (a couple of times and as recently as this July) and one or two more.
August 20th, 2011 at 22:06Yeah, I meant that wonderful album.
Hopefully Jon will get better.
August 23rd, 2011 at 09:50Otherwise this album is probably one of the things I ll put on after his death.
fuerza maestro!!!!! todos estamos pendientes de tu salud y hacemos fuerza para que se mejore!!!
August 26th, 2011 at 20:20Great set list ! Please , tell me someone , cd comes as a Jewel Case edition or DIGIpack .
September 3rd, 2011 at 05:14@15: It is a digipak.
September 3rd, 2011 at 07:24@ 11
Talking about pessimism.
September 4th, 2011 at 12:19No pessimist here Chair. Just a realist. I hope I’m wrong. That’s the optimist in me. I’d just hate to see these Live albums be the Kiss of Death…..
Cheers
September 5th, 2011 at 04:15@ 16 – Thanks !
