BCC on British TV
UK cable/satellite channel Sky Arts will be showing highlights from this year High Voltage festival on Saturday, August 20 at 10pm. We are not sure as to the exact content of the programme, but the following artists are mentioned in the announcement along with Black Country Communion: Judas Priest, Dream Theater, Slash, and Thin Lizzy.
Glenn “I have been in Deep Purple” Hughes enjoying another (probably his last) 15 minutes of (pseudo)fame. Joe Bonamassa solo is so much better than anything “BCC” could ever be. Needless to say that the BCC songs where Joe sings are pretty much the only enjoyable ones. Whats wrong with singing, Glenn? We can all hear that your voice (finally) declines (listen to the bridge of BURN recently, folks) but can’t you just call it a day somehow? I have even been at a BCC concert recently and all what people around me asked himself (and me) was: Who is that muppet who behaves like a clown on stage??
August 14th, 2011 at 15:45“Superstar” Glenn Hughes, I said. The one “superstar” which nobody knows…lol.
Well, I wish him luck with BCC. He tried to use Chad Smith as a vehicle to boost his limited “fame”. Didn’t work. No he tries again with Bonamassa, Bonham and Sherinian.
By the way: Are these sunglasses still removable? I’m not quite sure anymore. I think I haven’t seen Glenn since 2007 without these glasses at all. Looks like Sharon Osbourne somehow.
From what you write you’re not a Glenn Hughes fan.
August 14th, 2011 at 19:51I’ve seen him about 6 or 7 times the last couple of years.
I only heard that people saying his vocal performances were outstanding.
Saw BCC and Whitesnake last month.
Don’t have to tell who did the better vocal job.
With his solo concerts Glenn often tried to impress with his voice.
With BCC he is part of the band without his voice acrobatics.
Don’t like all BCC songs, but like it much better than the last 2 WhiteSnake records.
Take a pill Frank. GH is last of DP family that can actually sing. If so bad would he work with Ritchie, Tony, Gary and many others. Don’t need to love his personality to enjoy his obvious musical talent. Btw. have all of Joe’s solo work – not better than BCC for my taste.
August 14th, 2011 at 20:06@1 – This is obviously the talk of someone who prefers someone else rather than Glenn in Purple, or whatever else for that matter. You’re competing without revealing your preference, and to mention JB that way is not only irrelvant, it’s just plain wrong. He is good, but not that good by any stretch. Glenn may be somewhat past his peak, but it’s nice to see an opportunity like BCC’s come along, for whover flaost ones boat. So as a platform it likely won’t get any better than what BCC have accomplished in this day and age in a business that riminds you that you’re only as good as your last record. The odds are against every single artist working today. Just say it, you like SOMEONE better than Glenn, but the way you go about it kind of casts doubt on perhaps Gillan being the common denominator, although that could just be disguised. I don’t know, perhaps a more ligitimate axe is being swung on what isn’t even that serious of a subject.
August 14th, 2011 at 23:53floast, now there’s a word for ya! 🙂
August 14th, 2011 at 23:54Jeez Frank..get a life, if you cannot say anything worthwhile , then get back under the stone you obviously crawled from. If you hate GH as much as you appear to, why oh why did you spend money on a ticket for BCC ???

I think you may need major surgery to have that massive Glenn chip removed from your shoulder.
Seen DP many a time, seeing them at the back end of the year, net I could list the tracks now, not enough recognition of steve and dons input, I’ll still enjoy the show but feel it could be rejuvenated
Seen Glenn many times, met him last year in machester before the concert, a true gent and 110% effort
Saw BCC with my 15 year old, he loved it, so did I! BCC does not need the vocal gymnastics often displayed at the solo gigs, as said by other contributors BCC is a complete band.
As for the posing on stage etc. It’s something he has always done, get over it, it’s part of what Glenn is. Would you expect Blackmore to walk out on stage and smile?
August 24th, 2011 at 12:29Ok I can’t spell bet and Manchester, but my excuse is being at the side of a swimming pool in France with a nice cool beer :-0 enjoy your day fellow purple fans and pray for franks chip 🙂

Come on Frank, how old are you?
Glenn, out of all the various DP members, is the one who has maintained his vocal range. So he has one dodgy performance possibly [i havent seen it myself],that you have alluded to. I have seen Glenn live over his last few solo tours and vocally he is still at the top of his game and easily outperforms the other Dp vocalists past and present. If he is not to your taste vocally and stylistically fair enough, but at least try to behave in an adult way whilst posting!

August 25th, 2011 at 03:53I ve seen the TMIB smile often enough to know that it’s hard to convince people that think he’s always that image of the moody bastard.
August 29th, 2011 at 22:14#11….
What in all the hell does TMIB have to do with this thread??? Did you fall asleep and then suddenly wake up and start typing the first thing that popped into you head????
WTF,
Cheers

September 4th, 2011 at 12:21Sorry Chair….
I didn’t see that one short sentence out the whole blog here that you pinpointed to. Amazing how you can find that needle in a hay stack to respond to. You must have your ‘MIB Radar’ turned way up again…..
Cheers
