“My passion is the writing”….that’s the problem to me…He is a great performer and a poor songwriter…

Ha Ha! What a laugh……GH says there were 4 pretty huge bands coming out of the ‘black country’ – Purple, Zeppelin, Priest and Trapeze. Trapeze!!! He really should get his head out of his own back-side, this constant self indulgence about his past efforts, and elevation of his status to something way above the reality, is starting to get REALLY annoying. There’s nothing at all wrong with promoting oneself, but he really should refrain from spouting such rubbish because we all know it’s complete tosh, and all rather embarrassing. He was instrumental (no pun intended) in the saddest part of DP history, and a major cause in its eventual downfall in the mid 70’s, imho. Why can’t he just keep his mouth shut and continue playing his music, which in the case of BCC I think is mostly rather good. Cheers.

I agree that Hughes’ work is an examination of the human condition. This is most clearly seen on Addiction and Music for the Divine. The latter in particular has a pathos that is not usually found in hard circles.

Not to forget that BCC is only half ” Black Country-originated”.
