Phoenix Rising Australian release
The Australian release date for Phoenix Rising has been set for July 29th through Shock Records. This will be a standalone DVD with Rising Over Japan, the Gettin’ Tighter documentary, and bonus features of Jakarta 1975 and Come Taste The Band remaster electronic press kit. The booklet will be a basic 4-page inlay. The DVD will be in PAL format and we’re being assured that it’s region-free.
Great new’s, it’s much better that it’s a single dvd with nothing else. Don’t need those extra songs that were added on the other release. Would have liked it, if Ian Paice & David Coverdale were included in the interviews as well. They were part of he group as well. Am looking forward to buying this , will never watch the old poor quality Rises Over Japan video again!

July 16th, 2011 at 13:07Thanks Chair. Nice to see you can still have some positive input. Of course it’s early on this blog. I’m sure you’ll come up with something negative toward our heroes….
Cheers
July 23rd, 2011 at 23:30Whilst I didn’t mind some of the CTTB album originally all those years ago, what live material I have heard has always made me cringe big time! More to do with Bolin being off his head no doubt & Hughes also! Will definitely not be buying this “part of” Purple’s history! Hi to Tracey the Zero Hero!
August 3rd, 2011 at 11:30I for one will be purchasing this DVD. When a fan of Purple, all history is important. One segment leads to next. Though most of the live performances of this MK were subpar, the album was a true gem and a handful of gigs were also. As I stated prior, seek out the Live in Miami bootleg. This was a fine concert that I attended, and they were truly brilliant that night. Without a doubt the best show I have heard from that era, and I have heard many….
Hi to MacGregor!
Cheers
August 10th, 2011 at 16:07Bought the DVD for only 20 dollars. The picture quality is fantastic, it’s much more colourful too. You can pick things up that you can’t see on the old video. The news has alway’s been Tommy was clean of heroin & that he took some , fell asleep on his arm & it went numb.
This is the first i have heard from Glenn that somebody in the party gave him a morphine shot. Why did this happen ? he didn’t explain why? I thought most those documentary’s , focused on Glenns troubles to much, started feeling a bit depressed hearing him.
Iv’e heard that Miami recording & it’s a great one. Yes the band were on top form that night. Same with the live in Longbeach . Mac Gregor i think it’s the opposite . Tommy played better when he was on drugs , he was more relaxed . When he needed to score that was the problem.
