Here we are with a YOUTUBE introduction to Roger’s upcoming LP. Purple states they won’t do ANYTHING early because of YOUTUBE. A little consistency would be a nice virtue. Give us something to believe in…..
Is it Me or is it Memorex……
Come on guys…..just level with us. Some of us aren’t your enemies….(Priest/Chair and his clones excluded). Some of us actually keep track. Some of us really do care. Some of us actually pay attention. Some of us just want you to SUCCEED. BUT, you reap what you sew…..SEW BETTER SEEDS!!! KEEP IT REAL!!!!
@ Tracy – that’s exactly the point. SOME of us do care, but most of the people out there just don’t. Sad but true. I guess they all have their experiences, so they are cautious, and rightfully so.
I mean, when somebody says that he’s careful with fire as he has burnt his hands once, that’s a very legitimate statement. But you wouldn’t deny that person to use fire when he actually needs it, would you? It’s all about the way you use something.
To use Youtube for previews is a great way of promoting something, but finding your new songs there, which are supposed to come out in a couple of months – ah well…
You Tube- yes, but as for new albums- to preview 1-2 songs from them only. Not the whole album! I like buying CDs without knowing their contents. No surprise when I listen to all songs on You Tube before releasing.
Regardless of all, this music sounds great… I can’t wait!
That’s like saying Roger has control over what goes where… whether he should or not doesn’t really matter, Tracy my brother, are you that serious with this? I’m also not seeing a word about how good or bad you think the sample is, but I do know you’re limited when it comes to taste such as this variety, Tony Carey’s work rings a huge bell. This is going to be a much needed deviation from the norm of late. I already smell success, and my local will be supporting it, the world reknowned KGON, the station Iron Maiden sported shirts of around the world. They played his last one everyday for over a year straight, and they are really very limited on new music from what they call classic rock artists, they leave that coverage to their cool website where my friend has an audio interview with Ian Paice from Abby Road some years back. In fact they balk at BCC and I guarantee this will still get air time. It sounds really good to my ears.
also this one really looks like(sounds like)more heartful than others. And smells good production.DP will also make a tasteful album which we(purple maniacs) will like.Forget the rest for a while.(a billion years)
fanatics all over the world.
cheers……………:)
Sounds (by these short samples) like it’s connected to his last album in terms of groove and natural ease. Great Stuff! That’s how MY favorite band used to (no I’m not hysterically old, just forced to listen since I was 7 and fell in love) make me feel!! Not having heard the whole piece yet, I still know this is one record I’m gonna take to heart just by pure musicianship and the sound of people enjoying to perform great music!
Wish the Purple’s have the ability to let that enthusiasm shine through on their new material! Just make sure it’s a really really strong one, take your time..make it feel great for you!! Nice summer and best wishes to all Purple fans around!
Reminds me of the swampy atmotsphere of the last solo album.
And indeed, what the hell would a sampler hurt?
1993
When I begged at my local store, I refunded them 2 bottles of wine : ) , for the sampler of TBRO way back I was very glad and exited.
(It was also the day I bought my ticket for Rotterdam AHOY, sick as a dog but with a bottle of cola / rum I positioned myself as the first buyer before the office.)
Anyway, the ep did not make myself taping the album.
I BLOODY WELL BOUGHT IT.
On the other hand, those were Blackmore-days.
Wow, the exitement of the first time hearing samples of TBRO and Anya…..
I ll buy an album when its good today, I must admit.
A download is something cheap to test it.
If it does not move me I ll even forget the download on my PC.
Do they still want me to buy it, eyes and ears closed?
Woohhhhh there boys. You totally mistook what I was stating here. Plus ‘Larry’ you are jumping way overboard here regarding my limitations toward taste in music. My point was very simple and well documented as far as statements from the band in many interviews. No big deal, but just as YOU LARRY have questioned many times, the validity and the flip-flopping views of Mr. Gillan, I was just pointing out the Irony here regarding the use of YouTube when there have been blatant statements in objection to it, that’s all.
Now, my ‘limitations’ in musical taste is like saying you don’t have any. I happen to have a wide range of interest. May not be the same particulars as yours, but I guarantee it is as wide. Tony Carey is your example? I never stated I didn’t appreciate his ability. I own almost all of his records, CD and much vinyl. I gave it a try and found that Most of it didn’t captivate me. Big deal. That’s not a limitation, it’s a preference. He writes nice songs. He plays well. He just doesn’t draw me in with any fire.
I didn’t remark on the sample because I WILL buy this CD and I WILL remark on the record as a whole. I took the ‘Irony’ remark from what was written by Roger on this expression of what the title should be. He gave the perfect Segway…
I also wasn’t being patronizing SAMI. I was speaking for myself and not generalizing or pointing fingers. It was my observation and due to the YouTube thing and I called it like I read it. Don’t take personal. It wasn’t meant to include you or anyone else. That isn’t my style and you should know that by now. I address folks directly. I call a spade a spade. I don’t beat around the bush. If you aren’t sure, or if you aren’t mentioned by name, it ain’t about you. You’ll know when it is…..
I tried to educate myself a bit but it serves multiple answers here :

Or more something like this ?
ligger
Definition
noun
British a freeloader, hanger-on or gatecrasher at concerts, receptions, parties, etc., in the rock and pop-music milieus. The word is part of rock music’s jargon and was adopted enthusiastically by journalists in such publications as New Musical Express in the 1970s to describe those enjoying themselves at the expense of record companies.
Citation ‘Julia Riddiough, 27 “going on 180”, is a world-class ligger who could club for Britain.’ (Observer, Section 5 magazine, 7 May 1989)
Maybe we should draw a contest for the best answer?
“Doom Metal”. You are quite the ‘Doomsday Preacher’. More appropriate name than your present name….Funny, they go by the name “Ghost”. One of your nemesis’s here….(as in ‘Crimson).
Thanks for the link though. Seems like a band worth looking into. Hadn’t heard of them prior.
What the hell I’m I supposed to do with that…Sorry… Yuch 🙁

July 1st, 2011 at 11:07There you go again Tracy: don’t patronise/generalize, some
of us may not be liggers like you, but I actually do care
as well!! You’re right about the consistency-factor, but
to me it sounds like one excuse after another: maybe they
just can’t produce good enough material for a worthy
DP-release.
Cheers cowboy, be well
July 1st, 2011 at 16:09This sounds very interesting. I’m looking forward to hear more.
Very different to DP and that’s fine.

Is Tracy a freeloader?
July 2nd, 2011 at 20:46Ok TRACY, so apparently I misread(my english ain’t that great you know), big deal, no harm done, you made your point.
haahaa, sarcasm(hope it was), of course I’m not a racist, how about you…calling Larry & me ‘boys’ >>> a very southern term, HA! 🙂
Have a great summer, Kippis
July 3rd, 2011 at 13:50…and ‘Chair’: don’t think Tracy’s a freeloader, was just being ironic/sarcastic. I
think he appreciates the humour of it all.
July 5th, 2011 at 09:06It is ok, Sami, I was just having a ball : )
