    Can’t Wait

  2. 2
    Barfly Gypsy says:

I hope there is something good and intresting on this release exept the documentarys.
Because everything i have seen and heard live so far from the Bolin era has just been terrible.

  3. 3
    Heimdall says:

Nice collection & hopefully a great package, too bad there’s no unreleased stuff on it except for the documentary. Anyway, looking forward to this one…

  4. 4
    Roberto says:

    why not italian subtitles?????

  5. 5
    Jim Sheridan says:

I have to admit, the CD is a let-down; it’s all stuff that’s already been released. Bummer.

  6. 6
    Manolis says:

Hmmmm. Little to mostly nothing on MK1, II, V, VI, VII and VIII so an Anthology it is not. Luke warm for me, but interesting formats. And we thought this was the “new” album…

  7. 7
    butttocks says:

do we really need more thrown together money making crap (REALLY !!!). Just bad marketing in my mind. this isn’t even their best lineup , maybe do some better thinking and interest me in a (In Rock or Machine Head package.

  8. 8
    purplepriest1965 says:

I m not very interested in the AUDIO.
After all, whats in it there to miss when you own ” Foxbat” and ” This Time Around”?

VINYL is ofcourse a nice treat.

I d like to buy myself completely purple on the vinyl side but I ll have to restrain myself, unfortunately.

    CHOICES : (

The BOOKLETS are something I m always intersting in.
That might me lure into buying this, plus ofcourse the remix treatment of the VIDEO stuff from Japan.

Question is : Does that differ still compared to ” This Time Around”, which after all was already a great improvement soundwise.

  9. 9
    Mike Eriksson says:

Walking on clouds, this is going to be great!!

    MIKE

  10. 10
    Sami says:

@ 1 Me neither, about time MK IV gets some exposure/more

    recognition hopefully!

  11. 11
    purpledaniel says:

I just don´t get it. Simon at the DPAS has assured the DVD would be NTSC and watchable worldwide (as if would be a region 0) BUt all I see is PAL and region 2.
    Can anyone help?

  12. 12
    Larry R. Toering says:

Ironically, the concert was filmed in NTSC!

  13. 13
    lcsl says:

    <<>>

How will the CD album be presented on the Blu-ray?
Will it be in DVD-A format?

I’ll definately be getting the Blu-ray but also tempted by the digipak for the booklet.

  14. 14
    Nick Soveiko says:

    purpledaniel @11:
my understanding is that the record company insisted on this. with all due respect to Simon, his word is not final on it. unfortunately.

  15. 15
    scott says:

#11 just get yourself an all region player as i myself got tired of dealing with the format issues. i have one for the TV and a portable all region player as well. it cost about as much as buying one concert ticket these days! looking forward to the 1975 sunbury footage! if they do like they did with the “made in japan” footage and just show a 10 second clip i will be truly pissed!

  16. 16
    Scott F. Feighner says:

Looking forward to the documentary portion of this release. The previews with Jon & Glenn and intrigued me enough to want to buy this on Blu-Ray

  17. 17
    biz says:

@6 – “The Mk.4 release” thing written at the very beginning of this article should give you a clue…

  18. 18
    Heimdall says:

Very nice packaging, and everything MkIV is always welcome. I’m really looking forward to the documentary. It’s just too bad that the CD and vinyl doesn’t contain anything previously unreleased, but I’ll buy it anyway just for the packaging.

  19. 19
    jimmie carabineris says:

is there going to be usa release of this dvd

  20. 20
    Nick Soveiko says:

    @13

audio on blue-ray is specified in DTS-HD master audio format.

  21. 21
    Larry R. Toering says:

    @ 13

Also, DVD-A format was dropped years ago and replaced by the DTS – DVD and CD audio formats, no longer existing outside of DIY blank burning.(if you can even find existing compatible burning software)

  22. 22
    purpledaniel says:

#14#15 Sure I would do if I only had the chance! Unfortunately our stupid government has imposed us huge import taxes only to protect a local deteriorated industry. The change rate against € is 6 to one, so we have to pay 6 times more expensive a european dvd, plus 50% customs rights. Again, our stupid goverment has provoked that dvd players in Argentina are only region4 NTSC, and buying an all region player would imply the same factors as the dvd disc. I´m absolutely furious that I can´t get this long awaited dvd because it will be released in PAL region2. USA release, if happens, is a long way comming.

  23. 23
    peter chrisp says:

You will probably find this is similar to the recent
Rush’s Moving Pictures album with the choices above. I will go with the bluray edition, with surround sound.
Once it’s released it will be quite interesting to read the reviews of all the Highway Star staff, and get their
    honest opinion.

  24. 24
    john says:

Big let on the CD, material is already out there, why reissue it??. The DVD, not really sure why we get the demise of MK2, the making of Burn and Stormbringer on a material pertaining to be about MK4, a quick chat is all that needed to bring us on to to it, but the fans already know the story anyway, what would have been better is getting “The world at large” film or more of the Indonesia conceret onto the DVD/Bluray, or is this yet another money making venture from the record company and botch job. Very little positive really to say except it is good that there is some MK4 material finally coming out

  25. 25
    Big Nige says:

Nice, hope the video is as remastered as they make out, yet doubt it. Ordered the DVD pack, for the booklets – might get the blu-ray later for completion. Go Glenn!!!!

  26. 26
    Crazy Horst says:

Well, here we are then and we can practically repeat almost everything we said about the “History, Hits and Highlights” DVD.

Decent to excellent footage spoiled somewhat by a careless (at best) packaging policy which automatically arouses suspicions of rip-off – or to put it mildly:
    a salami slice selling strategy.

The “HHAH” DVD already featured 2 songs from Tokyo 1975
So now we get the 3 other songs thrown in.

The CD contains material that was released before on Last Concert in Japan, Wings Of a Russian Foxbat/King Biscuit (the latter being rerereleased only last year with yet another remastering). And it features 3 songs that are also on the video (supposedly the same versions).
And it doesn’t cover a whole concert either, so this one is nothing more than a nice extra.

Which leaves the documentary and the extras the only real selling point for me – but also here I worry that a great part of it has already been seen on “HHAH”.
At least this one seems to correct the very superficial History part on “HHAH”.

As a whole, you now have two DVD releases within two years which both are a somewhat strange brew out of live footage, history and documentary.
In my opinion it would have been far better to create two different packages about the first 8 years of the band:
One with only live (or playback..) footage without any interviews and history bits but including the complete Tokyio footage
    – and one history/documentary (including the Leeds Polytechnic interviews and the New Zealand part and maybe also a few snippets from Gillan’s and Lord’s documentary DVDs.)

But maybe people feared that such clearcut products wouldn’t sell well enough.

I wonder how they’re going to combine the 28 minutes of film from Japan 1972 when they’re finished polishing them (hey! the Copenhagen video release was already 5 years ago, why not use parts of that?….).

  27. 27
    George Fotis says:

Would have liked it , if they interviewed Ian Paice & David as they were in the band to. It’s alway’s Jon Lord all the time, why release tracks that have already been released that’s stupid. All i wanted is just a regualar dvd of Rises Over Japan with nothing else, probabley would be cheaper to.
