Paicey to guest on a concept album
Ian Paice will be making guest appearance on a new space theme concept album called Seeking Major Tom. Comprised of 18 interpretations of “classic intergalactic rock anthems” (you can start making guesses), the release will also feature guest appearances by Brian May, Steve Howe, Peter Frampton and Zakk Wylde. William Shatner (of Star Trek fame) is also attached to the project, although it’s not clear in exactly what capacity. The release is due later this year on Los Angeles-based Cleopatra Records.
Thanks to Blabbermouth for the info.
It’s a William Shatner album. It’s his album, so his involvement will be quite extensive, I would think. I’m looking forward to his interpretation of Space Truckin’ 🙂
February 4th, 2011 at 14:51has long has the record is’nt warped!
February 4th, 2011 at 16:00I would imagine Shatner’s contribution will be a narrative, designed to theme the music. It actually sounds interesting – I surprise myself with that statement! – Shatner is a bit of loose cannon so if he’s not on his best behaviour it could turn out very cheesy…
February 4th, 2011 at 18:37Kind of like Ritchie guesting on Pat Boone’s album “in a heavy metal mood”….doing a small solo on ‘Smoke on the Water’….
Either way, looking forward to it… just another Purple Nugget to enjoy.
Cheers
February 5th, 2011 at 05:50Still it would be much more interesting if Paicey did a whole album collaboration with a household artists, like he did with Paul McCartney. This ‘Shatner’ album will be an obscure release that will attract little media attention. I’m sure of it. Just like the Bernard Welz album, which although has been announced no music store has yet heard of.
February 5th, 2011 at 07:37But Paicey….I am the captain.
February 5th, 2011 at 10:37LOL! Shatner & Wylde & Paicey ….it doesn’t get any better than this :)))))) Now I can die!
