Jan Holberg Project
Joe Lynn Turner has contributed vocals to debut album of the Jan Holberg Project which is due out on March 28 on Nordic Records. Jan Holberg is a Trondheim, Norway, based bass player who wrote ten original songs for the project. The album is called Sense of Time and was recorded in Reykjavik, Iceland, with participation of “some of Europes finest musicians”.
Jan says:
The idea behind the album is that music should be free, there are no musical borders, on this album. You can hear ballads, pop-songs, instrumentals and funk. This is what I am all about as a musician.
Turner adds:
I had a great time stretching out the vocal style on Jan’s songs. I’m always interested in something different with quality. Looking forward to the concert dates!
The album release will be supported by three live dates in Norway: April 27 in Trondheim, April 28 in Oslo, and April 30 in Hemne.
Nordic Records has some preview tracks which you can listen on their website.
Thanks to Lisa Walker for the info.

I forgot how to introduce a new thread myself, so……
I d like to mention this : ABOUT JON LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!
And around 21 : 15 a blues rock gig with Lordy from 2009.
German broadcast.
I m gonna try to download it.
Someone gave me a usb stick.
It works quite well, apart from the fact that it does not make MP 3 files.
It does make WMA, I think.
Would like to BURN it but this way it does not play on my cd player, not even my DVD player I seem to remember.
Got this news first through Rasmus and the Jon Lord website.
Did I miss it or did you forget to put it on THS?
Cheers, Mark
January 21st, 2011 at 19:36Well, downloaded the ot.
Must say I m a bit dissappointed.
Too much Maggie Bell, not enough Lord.
Which reminds me of an old interview in which Jon complains about being too much a backgroundmusician for her in her band way back in the 70 s.
I think that interview was in PAL or early Snake days.
YouTubed to find more of this event and found a comment in which is said that in october 2010 there was a LONG evening filled with this event on SWR(German TV)
SWR German?
January 21st, 2011 at 21:14Mmmmmmmmmmmhhhhhhhhhhhh…
Is SWR not from Switzerland?
Mark, you just need to convert the WMA file to MP3 and then you’ll be able to burn it as an audio. There is plenty of online software you can use for that. Or you can use this little guide:

January 21st, 2011 at 22:02Hi Marcinn
Already expected it to turn out that I can use AVS converter for this.
I downloaded that programme a few weeks ago but failed to materialise it into understanding how to use it.
Shall try again.
Thanx for the link.
Cheers!
January 22nd, 2011 at 01:46Btw, sorry I temporarily ignored this threads theme.
I already had heard about it through the Rainbow FanClan(Hello Frans : ) as well.
JLT is sounding very smooth and melodic on these songs.
The music is not exactly heavy and thats nice for a change.
Personally I found myself waiting for a bit more ” bite” and missing “a certain compositional touch”.
Maybe I should listen a few more times but now I feel myself waiting for the songs somewhere to go to.
I wish he could do more sessionwork on ” softer” work.
He still(I witnessed that at 2 amazing OTR gigs in the last 2 years) has an excellent voice and without forcing himself too much he sounds at total ease.
I love his work for ” bands” like Brazen Abbot.
He also did the NOSTRADAMUS project with mainman Nikolo Kotcheff.
After hearing THIS effort with Jan Holberg I wondered how wonderful in place he cvould be at something like The War Of The Worlds.
Still, maybe Arjan Lucassen from Aryeon could try to ask him for a next cd?
Looking out for many more years of fruitful JLT work.
Mark
January 22nd, 2011 at 10:52I d like to see them do show elsewhere as well.
But maybe not everywhere people will flock out to attend such a thing?
Not to patronise the Project but…..
January 22nd, 2011 at 14:36Maybe if mixed with some oldies, preferebly ofcourse the lesser played live ones, from earlier work might attract more audience?
Fruitful JLT work??
If he aint doing the tribute scene he is doing something obscure!
This sums up his desperation and the limited demand for his work!
January 24th, 2011 at 10:40@ 7 Yeah, “Rascal”: in your eyes JLT’s a no use has been, in my eyes you’re a desperately limited never have been!!!
Keep those bashing’s coming, Boy, it’s always a pleasure 😉
January 24th, 2011 at 19:08Ups, sure you have been something,” Rascal”: A PUNK, now that’s a merit to behold, arf arf arf…or maybe you just did too much glue-sniffing & gob-swallowing in those days, “Rascal”…
January 24th, 2011 at 19:18What happened to OTR? Is that still a ‘going concern’? I just wonder why JLT’s projects never amount to anything.
@8 & 9 I think it was ‘glue-sniffing & spitting’, not sure about the ‘swallowing’ bit…..although you do say ‘Boy, its always a pleasure’…….sounds like you have own agenda!!
January 25th, 2011 at 10:43I m glad JLT has a well filled agenda.
What was the topic again? : )
January 26th, 2011 at 11:14Some more tubes by JLT.

January 26th, 2011 at 14:20Screw the spotlights and the dramatic gossip, this is still a good singer, in fact singing better on stage than I’ve ever heard him, and I go as far back as Rainbow’s first tour with him. He has come a long way and still rolling with the punches.
January 26th, 2011 at 22:56Me thinks the OTR situation speaks for the JLT situation. Gone in a puff of BS Smoke. Unfortunately I too, admire JLT’s ability. Unfortunately, it encompasses his failure persona…..
Big hair, no where…..
Cheers
January 27th, 2011 at 01:54@13 Agreed. The guy is an outstanding vocalist. Maybe not the stage giant as a Gillan/Coverdale…but voice wise this guy seems to get better and better.
January 27th, 2011 at 14:19@ 13 Ghost, agree with you wholeheartedly, very well put!
My previous posts weren’t typed in very gentlemanly fashion but was just pissed off with the same old neverending bandwagon-jumping bullshit ’bout JLT(it’s beyond me why you even bother, take your bitching somewhere else!)…everyone knows by now the hair, looks, persona, tribute-act this and that etc. secondary issues, concentrate on the main thing from now on, singing, that’s where he shines!!
Cheers, have a relaxing weekend each & everyone of you,
KIPPIS
January 27th, 2011 at 17:06‘same old neverending bandwagon-jumping bullshit’- which also applies to the anti- Gillan and Morse factions that exits, and the sicknening Blackmore devotion.
Sometime the balance has to be redressed – If you cant take it – dont give it
January 28th, 2011 at 09:03Balance is lost already, within the band.
For years now.
Maybe they should retreat to a Purpendicular Anniversary Tour.
Please skip the WelDRESSED Guitar, after so many years he must have the need to pick something else.
Like Tommy, from one of his many superb solo albums. : )
January 29th, 2011 at 00:19@ 17 ‘if you can’t take it, don’t give it’…your deranged logic eludes me again, “Rascal”: what have I given exactly!? surely I have critisized Morse’s playing style/-sound in the past a few times, sure I’m a Rainbow-/Blackmore-/Mk II/JLT-/etc. etc. fan also, but I have moved on with the times although I prefer the vintage DP-sound, came to appreciate Morse’s contribution to DP, seen Mk VII/Mk VIII live six times as well…if this makes me ‘anti-Gillan/-Morse, sick Blackers-devotee’ in your child-like mind, then so be it!! I don’t dwell in the past, why you so desperately do with your pathetic bitching is beyond me!!
Looking forward to the Holberg-project cd & Turner’s vocal contributions.
January 30th, 2011 at 09:05Who exactly is Jan Holberg? All I can find is his ‘project’ with JLT.
@19 As a reformed Morse fan you will now defend him as you do JLT then? Or just stick to your usual ‘sucking up to’ with Priest?
February 1st, 2011 at 09:21Who exactly is Rascal? : )
February 1st, 2011 at 14:34@ 20 Naaahh, ‘reformed Morse fan & sucking up to’ don’t sound too appealing, maybe I should try your bitching/hypocrisy/narrow-mindness for a change, now that’s a good idea, ain’t it, “Rascal”…
February 1st, 2011 at 16:41@ 20 on a second thought, I’ll just stick to at laughing at you, as usual, “Rascal”!

I could not really make up my mind about where to put this, but………..
1 Its a Led Zeppelin TUBE
2 Most importantly, I never saw it before…..Its a FULL GIG in one tube!!!!!!
Right now I m downlaoding my ass off, but not sure if I use the right/best programme for it.
Gonna hunt down some DP full gigs as well.
February 2nd, 2011 at 01:12Theres the connection, pfffttt
well, a fuck up…..
here is the Zepp link.

February 2nd, 2011 at 01:14@23 Good idea Sami – I’ll just stick to laughing at JLT!
February 2nd, 2011 at 09:04@10: there’s an interview (in ENGLISH!) with jlt, on the OTR’s future be or not to be (amongst other things!)on norwegian site “heavymetal.no”. it’s beeing posted very soon. – whilst waiting, there’s also an interview from jan. 2011 with jürgen blackmore on the same site.
@13: your’e SPOT ON; i agree completely. jlt’s voice ages like a good vintage wine..!
@20: jan holberg is a norwegian bass player, who seems to put his money WHERE HIS MOUTH IS:
i attended their (holberg/turner) gig in oslo last week, & the tunes really blended well, & came alive “live”.
he used to be in an 80’s band called “empire”, who released a vinyl album back in those days – very hard to come by (i have never heard it). it’s due for cd re-release pretty son, i hear.
@23: do that – you seem to have some time;-).
